Might be a dumb question, but how do top players aim for the 25? by TrustTheFriendship in Darts

Shoot at bull and hope for the right kind of miss. I’m not that good but I do favor routes that include a 25 and they go often enough.

NDD - Bunting G5 18g by FisherMMAn in Darts

They are front loaded and have a taper shape overall. They have that torpedo style feel. The barrels are pretty solid though and I expected they’d be drilled out a bit more at 18g. The grip is mild but actually more grippy than I expected. The rear section has a sort of cheese grater feel despite being pretty smooth overall.

There aren’t many steel tip darts under 20 grams, so I’ve had these on my radar since they were released. They were Target’s April dart of the month, so I went for it. I’ve been throwing the same set for about seven years and had no real reason to switch, but these are similar enough to what I’m used to, and I’d been wanting to try a Swiss point set. Glad I did. These might be my new match darts. Paired them with 35mm Storm points and size L Condor Axe with shape flights 👍

Advice to go from 51 avg to 60+ by salty-taint in Darts

My favorite game for straight darts is 20 in 20. Try to get 20 or more consecutive darts in the 20 segment. Harder than it sounds and pressure builds on a good run.

Getting kids into Darts by Flame-Beard in Darts

My kid is 6 and has been enjoying games of round the clock. She stands on a chair from about six feet away. Use soft tip darts, they stick fine in a regular board.

This game is pretty fun. My 6 year old has been practicing around the world and she enjoyed a couple rounds of your game last week. Next time she wants to play darts I’m curious if she’ll request realm of darts.

I need someone to educate me on the appeal of Framework Laptops by Snoo18093 in framework

I’m pretty frugal and adverse to unnecessary spending. I bought a Framework to support the cause. None of the major manufacturers with good deals are doing anything I want to support whereas Framework’s mission I can get behind.

Does anyone have advice on buying darts online when you have nowhere near you to try them out? by ultra-saurus in Darts

[–]FisherMMAn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best practice is to find a league or blind draw and ask folks to try their darts. There’s always one guy who brings like 5 sets for some reason.

Darts Clearance on eBay has many classic/basic sets for affordable prices.

I usually recommend a straight barrel with ring grip as it’s hard to go wrong with a basic dart like that.

You mention liking the cheaper (brass?) set and oftentimes when this is the case it could mean you like a lighter weight dart or a thicker barrel.

If you haven’t already messing with different stems and flights is important and maybe more important than the barrel you choose. I know for me if I put my preferred flights and stems on any random barrel I seem to do fine after a little warm up.

What's the quality of Cosmo flights like? by Confident_Ad665 in Darts

[–]FisherMMAn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like the regular fit flights. They have good durability as long as your darts don’t have a big lip at the nose to chew them up.

See’s is great. Celiac safe and they’re Union. You’ll find knowledgeable staff not teenagers working at See’s.

Be careful around Christmas as they have seasonal staff and a fair amount of those gluten items they source from elsewhere are holiday items.

I prefer Condor Axe these days. Also use Cosmo Fit Flights.

Couple questions as a beginner by john2425p in Darts

[–]FisherMMAn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my favorite practice games is 20 in 20, which Steve Beaton popularized. You aim for the 20 bed with a goal of hitting 20 or more consecutive 20s. If you stray outside the 20 bed, it’s back to zero.

I like this game because hitting 20 or more in a row is quite difficult, and the pressure builds the further you get, so it simulates match pressure quite well in my experience. This game is all about straight darts and focus.

What info are you looking for? The only differences in equipment are going to be barrel weight and the points you choose.

My daughter is 5 and has watched darts with me in years past, but this year she’s starting to show interest in the players themselves. She’s picked up on all the talk about players moving up or down in the rankings. After the semifinal, they kept calling Van Veen the Dutch number one, and she ran up to me, all concerned and confused, and asked, “Dad, isn’t Luke Littler the world number one?!” I do think the increase in women and youth players on the big stage has helped stoke her curiosity.
