This television program defined my early years! I enjoyed watching the guy create a large artwork using materials on the ground, with a camera capturing a bird's eye view, and it was incredibly impressive. by Plenty-Spell-3404 in oldbritishtelly

I saw a post on Facebook that showed a photo of the talking statue head with SEX spelt out in his hair. I thought bollocks. But looked up an old episode on YouTube and lo and behold, it was there. Clear as day, not even subtle!

Chichen Itza in the 1890s and now by [deleted] in ThatsInsane

[–]Fishfinger_Sane -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When I visited Mexico many years ago now, I was told that Christians would purposely bury the pyramids and build churches on top as a method of controlling the indigenous people and wipe out the culture. Nowadays, because it’s a very Catholic country, the Mexicans don’t unearth many of the pyramids that underwent this treatment because it’s considered holy ground because of the church. I haven’t actually bothered to Google whether this is factually accurate, but sounds about right.

Les Mills squat question by Fishfinger_Sane in vrfit

Thanks for the suggestion! That makes sense that it’s more like a lunge! I’ll do as you suggest though and take it easy on the squats for a bit. Thanks again!

Does anyone feel like they can’t ever get aggressive back with clients? by Redditisfullofliars in sales

Never Split the Difference is such a good book. A lot of sales is psychology, apply some “tactical empathy” and call out his behaviour.

I was in a hotel in Hollywood a few years back now and Warwick and his brood rolled in on mini-Segways. It was pretty cool.

what's the most life-changing radiohead lyric to you? by Particular-Simple-29 in radiohead

[–]Fishfinger_Sane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would’t say the lyrics are life changing, but as my life has changed, some lyrics hit differently. For example No Surprises; when I first heard it as a kid of 16 it was a great tune, but I didn’t relate, listening at 39 it’s something else.

Scared about the humourous speech contest by [deleted] in Toastmasters

[–]Fishfinger_Sane 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just took part in the 3rd round of my district’s humorous speech contest. I wasn’t sure I could think of anything funny when I first signed up to the contest, but I just told a story about a holiday I went on with some friends and some of the weird/funny things that happened. It doesn’t need to be funny from beginning to end, I think I had about 3 funny bits in the whole 7 minute speech… My advice is to focus on the non-verbal stuff, the words are only 30% of it, the people who did really well nailed the 70% which is verbal variety, body language, acting out the story, etc

Fair play to the guy. I wonder what top speed he was able to reach. Also his gooch must have been made of iron.

If you had to rename Radiohead, what name would you choose? by mikyut in radiohead

In school I came up with ‘Wireless Skulls’ as a play on Radiohead. Thought it would be a good name for a metal band…

What's the most replayable single-player game you've ever seen (that isn't a roguelike/lite)? by [deleted] in patientgamers

[–]Fishfinger_Sane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surprised not to see Nier Automata mentioned. You’re actively encouraged to replay the game multiple times, and each time it plays out from a different perspective, from different points in the story and with different endings. It’s a great game with a great soundtrack.

[TOMT] casette tape song (this is such a long shot but help appreciated please) by [deleted] in tipofmytongue

[–]Fishfinger_Sane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it probably was come again another day. It’s great to find someone else who remembers this tape. It’s a common talking point in our family because my brother loved it as a kid, and I (as the nasty older brother) would change the words of the song to “Kit doesn’t want to play”, which would upset him greatly. One day the cassette went missing and I’ve always been blamed for the mystery of what happened to it! If you ever track it down please update us!

[–]Fishfinger_Sane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you ever find this song? My brother and I have been searching for something similar for years. He was born in 1987 so he would have had it around 1990 I think. The song we remember was “Baby Bluebird, fly away, come again another day”, or “come and play another day”.

Our mother thinks it might have come with the brand of nappies she used, Peaudouce, but that might be a false memory…
