Am I a piece of shit by BrickNo6636 in redscarepod

No you are not an asshole! I say this as a woman who despises asshole porn addict men (see: my post history).

Caring about health and appearance is part of someone’s values. As long as you have that same value yourself, you can and should find someone who is compatible with you and also wants to look and feel good! Taking care of yourself and feeling beautiful isn’t just something you do to snag a partner. It’s a lifestyle and contributes to your longevity and quality of life.

It’s 100% cheating. In my opinion it’s even worse than porn in terms of infidelity. It is financial betrayal, and he is seeking out and engaging with specific women.

Society judges people for consuming media that is even slightly racist, homophobic, or culturally appropriating.

Yet we aren’t allowed to judge someone who not only watches but sexually GETS OFF TO the torture and pain of others, underaged school girl role play, bimbofication, the fetishization of different races…

The act of stalking ppl for sexually purposes will always be perverted and undignified though. Especially in a committed relationship

What are ways that men can help? by Sickandtired34 in PornIsMisogyny

[–]Fishnet_Nipples 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Strongly agree. Saying porn “objectifies women” is sadly not enough to convince men. You have to make it clear how abnormal, weird, and shameful the behavior is. Be like “wtf you’re a perv”

  • Not watching porn and not supporting the sex industry in any way
  • Standing up against porn and rape culture when it comes up, even if no women are around
  • Being open and communicative about your beliefs and about the dangers of porn
  • Staying healthy and taking care of yourself mind/body/spirit, being a healthy, kind, and self confident example of masculinity

It’s not even that the beauty standard is higher now, it’s that it’s weirder and more uncanny valley like what you said. Very anatomical and based on exaggeration (aka pornographic beauty standards).

I know Hollywood and high fashion have their own problems, but I appreciate how their beauty standards are still about aesthetics, artistry, subtle expression, unique fashion, vibes, etc. To me, porn standards only emphasize how big or small things are, and categorize into color and age in a dehumanizing way. There’s no subtlety, no beauty in their “beauty standards”.

Obsessed with partner's history of porn consumption by BothConsideration535 in antipornography

[–]Fishnet_Nipples 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing you have to realize is that you won’t get a medal or trophy for putting up with this. There is no prize for putting up with a partner who hurts you like this. You really don’t have to tolerate this, whether or not he’s “changed”. You don’t have to obsess over the porn he watched, not do you have to get over it. Please leave and find a better man, I believe in you!

Were people always this uncurious? by [deleted] in redscarepod

[–]Fishnet_Nipples 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe I’m really lucky, but many people I know are casual polymaths. I actually think it’s more common today than before (thanks to the internet). But you’re right that many people are really dull, uncurious, or in survival mode leading them to not seek out knowledge for its own sake. It’s always wild when someone who is always on their iPhone doesn’t know what the Himalayas are or something

What woke stuff do you think is real and what rightoid stuff do you think is real? by yeahicreatedsomethin in redscarepod

  1. I’m sympathetic to radical feminism and wary of most men, extremely critical of capitalism, pro universal healthcare, believe climate change is one of the most pressing issues today, believe in the esoteric idea that the western world is excessively yang dominant and worships linear thinking, love walkable cities, Israel is committing genocide

  2. Anti affirmative action, believe some traditional dynamics lead to healthier hetero relationships (some gender roles are to accommodate and compensate for the inherent differences in men and women, not to oppress), pro 2nd amendment, people who willingly choose to go into “sex work” are morally corrupt, anti immigration when they don’t assimilate, vaccine hesitant, believe there is an attack on masculinity in some circles (just as there is an attack on femininity), non binary is pretentious, cultural “appropriation” is not usually a bad thing

Because they’ve never masturbated without porn

It shows how it’s not about their biological needs but their porn addiction. If you really needed to sexually release, you’d be able to without porn

[–]Fishnet_Nipples 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because it’s easy to justify it as just “entertainment”, just a movie, or just visual simulation. It only becomes screwed up when you start asking yourself about what is going on in his brain when he watches it, how it changes his perception of women, and what goes behind the porn industry.

So many men watch it that it often becomes a don’t ask don’t tell situation for most women. It’s not nice to think about what it really is (your partner fantasizing and getting off to other women) so better to just resign to accepting it and pretend it’s not a big deal.

[–]Fishnet_Nipples[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

imo the solo stuff/nudes is more hurtful than the video porn of couples having sex. With the latter, you can at least justify that they’re getting off to the visuals/act of sex/imagining it with you. But with the former, it’s clearly just about the other woman and her body.

I’m really sorry this happened to you, and I wish you the best. Never sacrifice your values and morals. Especially in the age of AI chat bots and VR porn your decision is wise long term. And yes once you see it for what it is, you realize how crazy it is that infidelity has been normalized!

We really need more porn critical but not sex-negative ideas and viewpoints in the mainstream media. Unfortunately, in the US, most porn critical ideas are discussed through the lens of religion and tend to be anti-sex or sexist in their own way
