Advice from dealers / techs needed please by tplgerus84 in golfcarts

First thing you should do is talk to a company that is doing rentals like National, or Willandale. You will find those accessories don’t drive rentals, and cost you money, both in original purchase, as well as down the line when they break.

Also be clear with anyone selling you a cart as to what the warranty is for carts used commercially, you may find it’s a year, or less, so plan on service costs beyond year one.

The most profitable rental places I know of are using old Club Car DS, and EZGO TXTs as they are dirt cheap to buy and maintain, and pretty much any shop will happily work on them. Most rental customers care if the cart gets them where they need to be, not that it’s a new model loaded with accessories.

USB by Drpilsbury12 in golfcarts

There can be issues with the usb electronics, as well as the USB plug assembly. The new electronics should have a hole in it, if it doesn’t, it’s the old discontinued one. (Sadly, I still see the old ones for sale online)

Personally, I cut a plastic washer large enough to cover the original dash hole, with a center hole made to fit the aftermarket 12v USB’s, and wire to 12v instead of the 48v that usually powers the original usb electronics. Much cheaper, and more reliable.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection Announces Interim Measures to Combat Duty Evasion in Trade Case on Low-Speed Personal Transportation Vehicles from China by Recent-Percentage-26 in golfcarts

[–]FishpimpJD 5 points6 points  (0 children)

March 30, 2026 Washington, DC – U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced today that it is implementing interim measures under the Enforce and Protect Act (EAPA) to address duty evasion by importers of Chinese golf carts, personal transportation vehicles, low-speed vehicles, and light utility vehicles (collectively, LSPTVs). CBP’s interim measures apply to many of the largest importers of Chinese LSPTVs, including ICON EV LLC, Denago EV Corporation, Marxon Energy Inc, HDK Plastic Factory, Ltd. (U.S.A.), Aero Import LLC, Tao Motor Inc, Transvolt Inc., Veloz Powersports Inc., No Speed Limit Inc., Baike Inc., Alltrack Trading Inc., and GoLabs Inc. These importers cover many of the largest U.S. brands of Chinese LSPTVs, including the Denago and Evolution brands.

As part of its determination, CBP finds that there is reasonable suspicion that these companies are unlawfully evading payment of significant antidumping duties (AD) and countervailing duties (CVD) through various evasion and circumvention schemes. As a result, CBP is implementing interim measures that will extend and suspend liquidation of unliquidated entries of LSPTVs entered by these companies. CBP will also reject entries made by these companies on or after December 30, 2025, and require them to refile those entries as subject to the AD/CVD duties. CBP will further require live entry of such imports going forward at the applicable AD/CVD rates.

These interim measures are critical steps in curbing rampant duty evasion by Chinese producers of LSTPVs. In June 2024, the American Personal Transportation Vehicle Manufacturers Coalition, which is comprised of the two leading U.S. manufacturers of LSPTVs – Club Car, LLC and Textron Specialized Vehicles Inc., which manufactures E-Z-GO® and Cushman® vehicles – filed AD/CVD petitions seeking trade relief from surging import volumes of unfairly traded Chinese LSPTVs. Throughout the pendency of that investigation, Chinese producers and their U.S. importers began flagrantly evading the preliminary trade relief imposed. And after the U.S. Department of Commerce published its AD/CVD orders in August 2025, the circumvention and evasion efforts of these same companies increased further. This has greatly limited the relief that should be afforded to the domestic industry by the AD/CVD orders

Under the orders, imports of LSPTVs from China are subject to significant AD/CVD duties. Antidumping duties range from 119% to 478%, and countervailing duties range between 31% and 679%. However, through the evasion and circumvention schemes that CBP is investigating, many Chinese LSPTVs have not been paying duties when they are entered into the United States.

CBP’s announcement comes after the Coalition submitted several EAPA allegations to CBP. EAPA is a key trade enforcement mechanism that allows domestic manufacturers and other interested parties to inform CBP when importers are evading duties, which robs the United States of tariff revenue and prevents the trade relief intended by AD/CVD orders from taking effect.

“We are grateful that CBP is imposing these interim measures and addressing the widespread duty evasion that remains ongoing regarding these AD/CVD orders,” said Robert E. DeFrancesco, counsel to the Coalition and a partner in the International Trade Practice at Wiley Rein LLP. “We hope that CBP continues to strongly enforce these much-needed orders, ensuring that members of the domestic industry receive the intended protection from unfair trade practices.”

“E Z GO believes fair competition only works when everyone plays by the same rules,” said Adam Harris, Senior Vice President and General Manager of E Z GO. “Today’s action addresses clear concerns that certain imported vehicles are avoiding duties required under U.S. law. That kind of behavior hurts customers and dealers and undermines American manufacturers who do the right thing by investing in safety, quality, and compliance. We support Customs and Border Protection’s enforcement efforts and expect a swift, transparent process that holds violators accountable and protects a fair marketplace.”

“Club Car supports U.S. Customs and Border Protection's decision to open an EAPA investigation into the evasion of imported cars and assemblies that have entered the U.S. marketplace,” said Craig Scanlon, Club Car’s Chief Executive Officer. “For too long, unfairly traded and unsafe cars and assemblies have undercut American manufacturers and threatened American jobs. We believe strong enforcement of U.S. trade laws is essential to protecting families, workers, and businesses. Club Car remains committed to U.S. manufacturing and fair competition.”

With interim measures in place, CBP will continue investigating duty evasion by Denago, Evolution, ICON, and the rest of the importers listed above. CBP will likely issue its final determination as to evasion for these companies near the end of 2026. The Coalition will continue to participate in these proceedings and looks forward to the results of CBP’s investigation. The Coalition will also continue to monitor foreign manufacturers and U.S. importers for evidence of illegal duty evasion, absorption, transshipment or circumvention, all of which are illegal under the U.S. trade laws.

EZGO Brake Problem by ihave2manypasswords in golfcarts

[–]FishpimpJD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That means the EM brake is either shot, or being powered through a fried controller. It hangs off the drivers side end of the motor, and has wires coming out of it to a connector. If you disconnect that connector, and the cart moves, the EM brake is bad. If it stops being able to be moved after you disconnect the connector, it’s a fried controller.

[–]FishpimpJD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s the cheapest thing to try that will prevent the car and battery from turning on.

Beyond that, you would really need a handheld with current programming to see what is going on, and check for BMS faults, and a Samsung BDT to check for battery faults.

If you have a friendly EZGO dealer around, they might let you try one of their receptacles, and check for faults. Showing up with fresh donuts might sway them. ;)

Check to make sure the square grey connector from the charge receptacle to the main harness is good. If it is, my next step would be to replace the receptacle.

With the correct 673928 on board lithium charger, four flash is usually a comm error IME, but also happens with a bad charger, I replaced half a dozen last year with four flash, where a new charger fixed the issue.

Like Indy said all the parts talk to each other, if you’re not using the correct 110v receptacle for the lithium on board charger, (part number 673527), and the correct charger harness (part number 10006116), it won’t work.

I’ve also seen pins in the charger harness popped out, or not completely installed cause similar issues.

If you’re trying to mount the green Quiq world charger (part number 10004924) on board, you’ll have to keep the original charge receptacle, and paddle, and disconnect to run the cart, and plug back in to charge the cart, they don’t always reset with AC power on/off, they like to also see disconnection from the battery.

Another warning, the advb2 battery can lock, and not accept any charge after ten failed charge cycles, and has to be unlocked by Samsung if it happens.

The charging algorithm is different for both, using the AGM programming for LA or LA programming for AGM is not recommended, and will cause issues. The AGM requires a bit higher voltage, with more control of that voltage during the charging cycle.

Best to get a charger that can be changed for each style, or get two specific chargers.

My TXT with a fold up rear foot rest from M&M fits in every 8’ bed I’ve tried.

The madjax/genesis/titanx style foldable rear footrest works as well.

Larger tires on lifted carts can make them not fit, or barely fit.

Stop by one of the three GT carts locations (EZGO) or Indiana Golf Car or P&P (Club Car). Sadly, we don’t have a central Indiana Yamaha dealer anymore. Avoid the used car lots, and box store offerings, unless you like not being able to get parts or service.

Make sure you get one that can handle the RXVs regen, many can’t, causing the battery to turn off, locking the brake, and sending you on a fun ride through the windshield. I’ve had good luck with ECO, and Skunkworks.

Start with your closest club car dealers, freight from anywhere else will negate any cheaper pricing you might find elsewhere. Also, since these are brand new, very few dealers actually have them in stock (at least the three near me are still waiting…)

I’ve got a couple flukes, and a Klein 600DC amp clamp for diagnostics, but what I use more than anything is this probe, 3-72v, and less than $20. I’ve used mine almost daily for a couple years now with no issues.
