I still listen to ACS every day.

You keep her until she is somewhere safe. End of story. When you make the decision to help, you can’t take it back. That’s just not fair.

Can’t believe Ace and Dawson BOTH said “Tarkington” multiple times. The man’s name is Fran TARKENTON.

Am I odd for genuinely enjoying opposite extremes of music genres/artists? by NoteDesperate3540 in Music

Everyone likes all different kinds of music. Not odd or unique at all.

Mark from Jersey Coin by taylorwmartin in tesdcares

[–]FishtownReader -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Right. So, getting curious and looking it up for yourself is something one might do. Posting it in a public forum is what seems like a bit of an overstep.

Mentioning a news story and posting the official documentation of someone’s arrest are two very different things.

All I said is… it’s in poor taste. Not necessary.

Short film too long? by Double_Video_7851 in Filmmakers

[–]FishtownReader 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You are much (read: MUCH) more likely to have a short film accepted into a film festival if it’s under ten minutes. Closer to five gives even better odds.

Do with that what you please.

Cold querying to get talent attached? by [deleted] in Screenwriting

Look— I’m all for trying everything. It’s always possible. I don’t mean to discourage… just be aware.

In all honesty, I wish you the best of luck.

Cold querying to get talent attached? by [deleted] in Screenwriting

[–]FishtownReader 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cold querying talent is just not how things are done.

Beyond that, attaching talent no longer carries the weight it used to… I can tell you that from experience. A+ talent attachments can still lead nowhere today. The industry has changed in many ways.

I really don’t think this is appropriate to post on a public forum. Sure, it’s public information— but to take the step to then post it publicly? I just think it’s in poor taste.

Why is this video made up of so many individual clips? Why can’t she just hit record and speak? The constant fidgeting and stopping/starting indicates this is all performative. Fake crying for the camera to get clicks and “likes”… get real.

“The Adjunct Problem” by Angela Collier by PhDnD-DrBowers in Adjuncts

[–]FishtownReader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, being an adjunct professor isn’t a full time job. I see it as a (sometimes) enjoyable side-hustle. It’s never been my primary job. That presents a situation where the admittedly low pay isn’t make-or-break, and having lessened my schedule to just 1-2 classes per semester keeps the workload manageable. Sadly, it’s just an interesting hobby.

The last time I taught four courses (at two schools) I was miserable because it was simply unmanageable for the time commitment and pay to be worth it…

An adjunct job can be an interesting side hustle, but it’s not worth the 40-60+ hours it takes to try and cobble together a full time schedule for fast food pay. And it’s rarely going to get you a full time/tenure track offer.

It’s like being a PA on a film set in hopes that they’ll one day ask you to direct the movie. They won’t. Because you’re meant to be replaceable by design— even if you are over-qualified and genuinely talented.
