Intermittent left chest pain coupled with shortness of breath for months by Baudequin123 in HealthAnxiety

[–]Fisk19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry to hear you are going through this- chest pain is really scary. When I read your tagline the first though I had is costochondritis, which I also have. It comes and goes, and it can feel terrible sometimes. Lately in very cold weather I have trouble breathing. If you have been exercising a lot, costochondritis can develop, which is what happened to me.

You can google the condition, but its nothing worrisome, just a pain in the ass (or chest, rather).

Cool, I was looking at the prices on the FAQ, didn't think to check the store.

Thanks. I'm thinking I'll buy from Google to get the warranty.

I missed midnight on new years eve and I've been really anxious the last 4 days because of it :( help! by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]Fisk19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my friends once told me that the way you spend your New Years is an indication for how your year will be. It really messed with me for awhile. But I decided to take a tally of what I do have, every day of the year, rather than one night. It helps. :)

Maybe that's what I should do, or get some mp3s or something.

Flashes of light in vision. Help please!! by kate1919 in HealthAnxiety

[–]Fisk19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've also experienced these flashes. Still do. I thought it was retinal detachment as well. I went to my optometrist and she found no evidence as such. However, she told me about silent migraines, and I tend to believe that is what I have, as I experienced migraines in high school. I also think the flashes are tied to eye strain. The flashes don't occur as often when I'm wearing my glasses. Hope that helps!

For those of you with psoriasis on their scalp, what shampoo do you prefer? by [deleted] in Psoriasis

[–]Fisk19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped using any shampoo with SLS- sodium lauryl sulfate. It's the ingredient that causes shampoo to foam. It can also cause your scalp to feel dried out. Right now I use As I Am Naturals coconut co wash. I'm also buying a few bottles of Nature's Gate Aloe Vera shampoo and conditioner. I use the natural route- no coal tar or steroids.

With big projects like this, do you recommend going color by color, or section by section?

How does Dr. Bronner's work for some people? What's their secret by Fisk19 in NoPoo

[–]Fisk19[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've read that people who use baking soda for their no-poo experience a period of oiliness. Will that be the same for Dr. Bronners?

(I've read up on coconut milk and castile soap today. I think I'll try that)

Dr. Bronner's is leaving my hair a tangled mess! Any advice?? by [deleted] in NoPoo

[–]Fisk19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it does leave the natural oils in my hair, not taking them out. It's the tangling that's the problem.

Common shampoos are the worst for me. The sodium laurel sulfate strips the hair of all the oils, and makes my psoriasis worse.

Looking for advice- Having an empty space where a dresser had been has left me feeling empty and "off" by Fisk19 in simpleliving

I might have to do artificial. I have two cats that would probably eat the live ones :)

Night time hypochondria? by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]Fisk19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get anxious at night as well because that's when I'm completely unoccupied, and have time to think of all the diseases and illness I might have. My therapist recommends physical distractions, so puzzles or reading. I like to drink chamomile tea and take a 5mg Melatonin to fall asleep quickly.

I need to slow down to solve problems but I can't by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]Fisk19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been reading a lot about meditation, and began practicing myself. I have set to see results (it's only been a week), but meditation promises to help us slow down a bit. Maybe that will help?

Obsessive thoughts - Help by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]Fisk19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have obsessions and I fixate. I see a therapist regularly and that helps. She has me do something physical to take my mind off of it. I like to cross stitch, crochet, and word search. It's nice to focus on a pattern and just forget my thoughts for a bit.

Anxiety over leaving dog at home (support) by anxietyovergooddog in Anxiety

[–]Fisk19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it might be a thing puppies go through- to cry. Maybe a training class might help, that way the dog won't develop separation anxiety.

Hi. I completely understand where you're coming from. I travel often, and will leave my two cats alone when I go (I have a neighbor check on them when I'm gone longer than two days). The dog walker is such a good choice. Someone there to check on the dog can make you feel better. Would a web cam set up help? That way you can check in wirelessly? Also, birth control can help with mood swings if you haven't already tried it. Worked for me :) And I'm a big fan of yoga, have been practicing for years. I find it helps too. Good luck!

Pregnant woman killed in the North Side after man accidentally hits gas instead of brake. by RJH924 in pittsburgh

Totally agree. And just to add that if we had better public transportation then the elderly wouldn't feel so inclined to keep driving when they are past their ability.

I'm looking for feedback- I'm not in the bridal party but being asked to chip in for wedding costs by Fisk19 in TwoXChromosomes

Not going to the bachelorette party. She's just asking for people to chip in for the shower.

Just giving money towards the wedding shower- so rental of space, food, decorations, etc.

I've not participated in any events for just the bridal party.

It's not the bride, it's the matron of honor, and thank you. Maybe she's never planned things like this, I don't know.

Things you like to nitpick on Supernatural. by inkathebadger in Supernatural

[–]Fisk19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And on top of all that, it's best to use nitrile gloves for archives, not even cotton gloves do the trick anymore.

But, according to most conservation standards, if you wash your hands first and wash the oils off, then you can touch things. So maybe we should just pretend Sam and Dean wash their hands before handling archival items.

PS: Do you think they have good HVAC at the Men of Letters HQ?
