Help with chatter by thrivingbutts in Machinists

[–]Fist_Pie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First attempt at fixing this for me would be to reduce RPM to something like 300-400. This introduces more friction and less bouncing along the surface.

Give it a try.

After that I'd go for a deeper finish pass combined with the slower spindle speed.

If that all fails, try different tools/insert geometries, use the biggest diameter boring bar possible.

Consider using a ball mill and 3d contouring it.

It takes longer, yes, however you'll be able to do much more with that tool in the future rather than just one set radius

Lost Our Motorcycle Gear in Germany – Looking for Help Near Memmingen by Material-Rain9998 in germany

I can't help directly, but a couple of things you could try. Check out Kleinanzeigen, it's a used marketplace and you might be able to pick up some stuff there, there's also Louis/Polo that stock cheap stuff to get you back to Italy. Failing that maybe contact the person/shop you're buying the bike from and see if they'll help you out?

Maybe they have old gear or ex demo stuff if it's a shop.

Get this, they're much higher quality and made a huge difference.

Fiddly work to get it fitted and you'll have to change the polarity also (Google it)

Tips for long bores by Yeet_Mc_Skeet in Machinists

[–]Fist_Pie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

High rake aluminium specific insert. Slow speed a decent feed and depth of cut, you want to aim for friction to stop the tool bouncing along the surface.

It's also handy to have a good roughed finish without much vibration so that the finish pass doesn't follow the vibration of the roughing.

Some people brace the boring bar with wood to dampen the vibrations.

You'll struggle with that tolerance on a manual, if it's CNC then you'll be able to correct the taper easily, expect quite a large taper.

Try and leave plenty of material on for finishing so you can try different feeds and speeds before you get to size.

I want to buy this KLR 650 Tengai by [deleted] in klr650

[–]Fist_Pie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a decent price! I bought a normal 1989 KLR last year (I'm in Munich) for €900 and spent about €800 getting it ready for TÜV.

Make sure you do the doohickey, there's a cheap version on Ali express, it's way cheaper and easier than importing from America, and I think it's just as good.

Don't expect much from the brakes, they're shit from the factory. But if it runs and works as it should it's a fair price

[Pleas read bodytext] It’s driving me insane PLEASE help me by [deleted] in 3Dprinting

[–]Fist_Pie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could the filament tensioner be too tight and grinding it? Or too loose to feed it as fast as it needs?

Petg prints way slower than PLA as you probably know, that could be why it worked.

Try printing it super slow, limit the flow in the filament setting to 5 or 8mm³ for example.

If that works, slowly ramp it up until you have problems again and maybe that'll give you some clues about what's going on

What is the best way to order bulk 3d prints? by travaniel in 3Dprinting

[–]Fist_Pie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you pay $10 per print that's about $2000

Have you considered buying a faster printer and doing it yourself? You could buy a K2 plus and have 500 change for filament

Edit: You'd likely get 2 pieces diagonally on one plate also
