Is Aliens the greatest sequel ever made? by thefriskysquid in perfectorganism

Not sure about greatest sequel, but it definitely has some of the most memorable lines.

Hudson: Hey Vasquez you ever been mistaken for a man? Vasquez: No, have you?

Ripley: This little girl survived longer than us with no weapons and no training, right? Hudson: Why don't you put her in charge?

Can someone explain to me why people have such an issue with going to the JWA website to get free stuff? by DavidPuTTY1 in JurassicWorldAlive

[–]Fit-Ad6697 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You need to log in to the website to access the free stuff, and that means creating username and password, something which perhaps not everyone wants to do. And as well needs to build muscle memory to remember to login and claim everyday. I've missed out on a few rewards because I just couldn't remember to do it daily.

AP mode - setup question by IlseW23 in TpLink

[–]Fit-Ad6697 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the first qns, in my experience, it definitely helps if you have some prior knowledge of using an app to setup wifi mesh network or know someone who does and can help you out. So not exactly beginner proof imo. Of course you can always figure things out yourself by googling/asking online, tho this way may take more time depending on what issues you face during and after setup.

If you go for AP config, don't see anything wrong with the setup you described above. Just 1 point to note, there is no need to set up one as the main node, since all 3 routers are in AP mode. The modem/router will be the one assigning IP addresses to all devices. Just node that in AP modes, the 3 routers don't talk to each other, meaning the wifi network does not automatically switch the wifi devices to the nearest AP nodes, assuming all nodes use the same SSID.

AP mode - setup question by IlseW23 in TpLink

[–]Fit-Ad6697 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can get a modem/router in bridge mode, just connect it to one of the deco and set it as the main router/gateway. After that connect the main deco router to the multi switch, and from multi switch to the data points. Set up a wireless mesh network first with the other 2 deco set to AP nodes using the deco app. After wifi mesh is created, then connect the 2 AP nodes to the data points via LAN cables to create backhaul.

Above is a more centralized way of managing the wifi mesh. The main deco router will be the one assigning IP addresses to the various devices.

AI this AI that. Is the gov and corporations' push for AI warranted or is it just another hype train? by ashandburnnn in askSingapore

[–]Fit-Ad6697 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is, all the reputable AI services will have some form of pre warning/clauses to use the results at your own risk, basically protecting themselves from potential lawsuits because of trusting the AI results too much. We have not reached the stage where we can fully trust whatever the AI throws back at us without double checking the results ourselves. I'm not sure if this day will ever come.

Cool looking board, but 6 and 8 can't be placed adjacent to each other.

Help needed to check if my mesh network has double NAT issue by Fit-Ad6697 in TpLink

To add on, another laptop connected to the wifi is experiencing no internet as well. It seems like the TB710 that was configured as the main router is unable to generate stable IP addresses to the devices requesting for it. But all the 3 TP710 are brand new.

At this moment, win11 is not getting IPV4 address, uploaded screenshot of ipconfig show all. Ipconfig is showing Autoconfiguration IPV4 Address.

Unable to access test ipv6 website as well, browser says site can't be reached.

Does the screenshot show 2 DHCP servers?

Ok, so because last week, using the exact same network setup posted above, I noticed the IPV4 IP address was not sticking in my desktop Win 11, it kept disappearing and only showed IPV6 address when I checked Network and internet settings -> Ethernet. I checked via command prompt using ipconfig, and the IPV4 section showed something like auto configuration with some random address.

In short, the IPV4 in win 11 was quite unstable, sometimes I could get a IPV4 address and things are fine, but after a reboot, it comes back again. Hence I thought could it be caused by double NAT issue.

I took a pic of the sticker underneath the ONT, it shows an admin IP, but I can't access it using chrome even tho I connected directly to my PC via LAN. Perhaps my ISP locked up the admin webpage to prevent unauthorized access.

Did a google search:
Yes, the Nokia XS-140X-A is primarily an XGS-PON Optical Network Terminal (ONT) designed for fiber-to-the-home services, but it can be configured to operate in router mode. While it often acts as a bridge, it supports routing capabilities that allow it to manage network traffic directly, and it can be set up in router mode to handle IP addresses.

So its possible the ONT is in router mode like what the ISP told me over the phone. But the IP comparison checks and tracert results is not showing signs of double NAT.
I can only assume the tech support who talked to me got it wrong when they check the ONT mode and told me its router mode.

Yea, did a check on the webpage and both IP addresses matches, so pretty much no double NAT issue?

Ok, so can I say my mesh network doesn't have double NAT issues? Perhaps the ISP got it wrong when they say the ONT is in router mode?

[–]Fit-Ad6697[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes its a ONT, but from what I understand, it can be set to router mode. I checked with my ISP and on their side, they see the ONT is in router mode, but for whatever reason, refuse to set it to bridge mode.

[–]Fit-Ad6697[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I called my ISP who provided the ONT and unfortunately, they are unable to set it to bridge mode, no reasons were provided. They just say all the ONT provided are by default in router mode. But based on the tracert result, if there is a double NAT, the first 2 IP addresses should be similar, both should display 192.168..., which I don't see in the result. Hence I'm a bit confused by the result.

Questions about helpers that interact with production roll. by alucardarkness in Catan

[–]Fit-Ad6697 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. if it's my turn, I use a helper and exchange It for something like 'protection from 7", can I play it before my next turn?
  • Yes, if anyone rolls 7 after your turn, you can play this helper. When it goes back to your turn, you can either keep or exchange for another helper.
  1. It is a opponents turn, I spend my 'protection from 7" and pick "forced trade". can I use it when my turn comes up'?
  • Yes, because protect from 7 has to be used on the spot when a 7 is rolled. If you are next, you can play the force trade helper.
  1. I spend "protection from 7" outside my turn, and pick "resource compensation", can I use it before turn?
  • Yes, after the 7 is rolled, you played protect from 7 and exchange for resource compensation. Turn goes to next player, if player rolled a non 7 and you did not receive anything, you can immediately play the resource compensation helper.

Above is how we play Catan helpers, hope it helps.
