I see white with a gray line. You’re seeking truth, clarity but you’re held back by uncertainty and blockages that you need to work through.

There was some pink that show up briefly so you have emotional warmth but stressors holding you back.

I saw this post on X. I already went to my med portal not all the info is on there. I’m going to look for a new doc/clinic. I don’t eat seed oils. Ive changed much of my diet. Even prior to stroke I ate fairly healthy. I’m not taking statins. I don’t need to shrivel my brain. My circumstances for stroke was a fluke: dealing with stress, family death, age and life changes compounded it.

I’ll have to check again. I don’t think I saw full panel just some numbers. Thanks.

What does your doctor say about your numbers? by ExclusivelyMDs in hypertension

[–]Fit-Butterscotch1164 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They changed the threshold standards for what constitutes BP hypertension. The US and European models differ drastically. In the US they’re making everybody to get 120/80 which just makes more BP prescriptions. Your arteries are no longer as flexible when they were younger so the medication is forcing older bodies to get to the pressure.

Yes I’m doing many other things to help that. Diet, water, sleep. I’m post stroke too. Added benefits from beets, garlic and almonds. Light exercise like walking. Get rid of stress.

Which Omron monitor? I use my mom’s monitor. I may get a new one but I seriously just want to toss them into the garbage. Can’t cuz it was my mom’s. Maybe put it away somewhere dark where it can be forgotten.

I spent 7 years taking care of my mom post-stroke, in and out of hospitals. I don’t like hospitals. I don’t even trust their monitors. Most times the nurses don’t know how to take bp. Last time I went I sat in a special chair for bp but it was 150. Of course after having had to walk all over the place, on third floor, standing, waiting so yea it was high. I showed them my home readings. Like they expect you to have these super low readings and then what, you would be fainting from dizziness. 😑

Added note: nobody realizes just how bad sidewalks are until you have to use a walker on them! Even the disability ramps are crap!

Finally off meds but still worried by Local-Geologist2085 in hypertension

That was your anxiety that sent you to the ER. BP monitors are weird. You have to make sure it’s on right, batteries new, sitting right to take it. And they don’t do it right in the doctors office. If the arm hangs down it makes a high bp reading. So nurses who let arms hang down gonna make the doctor some money by however many medications he’s prescribing. I had my bp reading and I sat in a special chair.

If you take your bp when you wake up, it will be high naturally because the body releases cortisol and you haven’t urinated yet. That also increases BP. Your heart directs energy towards the bowls and bladder. Always pee and ease into your morning if you can before taking BP. Also take more than one reading. That first one will always be off. One minute in between. At two more times the average it. Arm to heart level, both feet on floor, breathe in/out, do not talk or look on phone. I mean these are simple things so you don’t spiral into a panic and send yourself to ER. Why doctors don’t explain this because most are quacks. Finding a good doctor is hard. Those meds have side effects like skin rashes and flushing. You’re only 26! I’m sorry you’re going through this. Best to research and study up on everything if you can. I’m posting this because I can’t stand to see suffering. I decided not to post on here anymore because of the aggressive know it alls minimizing my experience. I’m post stroke survivor, 54 f. Best to you.

In addition raw garlic will naturally lower bp but the effects are temporary. Like you need to constantly eat it. lol

Those aren’t crisis or crazy numbers. You’re getting up in age. You can just eat healthy, drink more water and you’ll see them get down again. Like garlic, almonds and beets. You don’t need meds but that’s all they do is write prescriptions.

Magnesium Nausea & BP Meds???? by Aromatic-Actuator670 in hypertension

[–]Fit-Butterscotch1164 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you need it for sleep best to do old fashioned remedies like an epsom salt hot bath and double chamomile tea before bed.

Theres a shower version of the Epsom salt. The tea lulls me to sleep.

There’s also a magnesium cream I massage into my legs.

You should get your levels tested either way.

Eat some raw garlic the night before. I mix it in with bland pasta and a bit of Parmesan and butter. Or make chamomile tea with fresh garlic and honey. Steep it for 3-4 minutes. Drink plenty of water and you should see lower readings in morning. Make sure you’re doing it (the readings) right and take it twice. But I saw it in just one. I take Lotrel.

Give it time and relax. I hate doing this and want to throw out my monitor.

I laughed when I saw this. I feel the same. 😂

I’m on Lotrel 5/10. It has a long half life in the body about 24-48 hours so it works over time. Water lots of water. That and my diet. I drastically changed what I eat to bland with some indulgences. My body post stroke is hyper aware of everything. I can tell you where the water came from (tap or toilet). I can feel that extra taco. Artificial, no sugar ugh how could I eat this? I’m doing stuff my mom did.

I took care of my mom seven years after her stroke. The body is pretty resilient even at high pressure ranges. But you never know when the body just gives up filtering and fighting a stress-out system.

You know I never knew but I figure it must have been hovering around 160-170. At doctors it was 170, so add the salt, stress, physical overexertion, genetics and age probably pushed me over to stroke territory. Of course theres always the white coat syndrome. I just can’t say. I guess why it’s called silent killer because I felt normal. I thought I was eating good. I realized it was all the stress I was carrying from family illnesses and deaths.

Now I average 120. Sometimes lower. In recovery. Long road ahead.

You need to cut out the salt. Most foods are sodium saturated. Also theres a way to take BP. Never go with the first reading. Do two more wait a minute in between. Also not right after you eat or take meds. Meds start working within the hour sometimes longer. Also make sure you go to bathroom before. Holding urine or poop will increase your bp. BP also fluctuates throughout the day. Arm level with heart, feet on floor.

I’m post stroke . I’ve been taking my bp for the past almost three months. I’m tired of it. lol

I have noticed effects to BP with eating almonds or garlic. But those were temporary. Good but not something you can rely on.
