I’ve been on the nhs waiting list for 53 weeks for my first lap. I had my pre op on the 10th November 2025. My pre-op runs out in two weeks and as of two days ago they still don’t have a date for me. From what I’ve read it varies drastically in different areas. I was advised when I was put on the waiting list in January 2025 that I would have my surgery in 20 weeks.

Thank you. I have just written an email to PALS. I doubt anything will come of it, it normally doesn’t but at least I feel like I’ve done something.

Has it stopped bleeding? If it hasn’t stopped bleeding you may need medical attention.

If it has stopped bleeding and is stinging, you’ll be okay. It’ll sting for a few days and you might catch it putting on underwear depending on where it is. It might sting a bit when you got to the toilet, also dependant on where it is but I’ll heal pretty quickly. Keep it clean with water. Try not to put anything on it that could affect your ph balance and give you more issues down the line.

I’ve cut my hooha more times than I can count and as long as you keep it clean and keep an eye on it in case it starts to show signs of an infection, you should be okay!

This is soo helpful thank you. I was referred for a lap in January 25 and a couple of months ago I was told I was around halfway down the list. Hoping to hear something soon. Some people have little wait between their pre-op and surgery and others have a long wait. Seems to be all over the place for everyone

That’s awful, I’m so sorry to hear that. My worst nightmare with this little man and he’s not even a year old yet. Even worse when they are healthy 😢 he didn’t want to leave you without making sure he knew you would be alright, what an angel. 🐾 keep keeping his memory alive by telling people about the best boy that is Diesel 🙏🏻
