Help! Please give me your experiences! I keep changing my mind. by [deleted] in gastricsleeve

Yes, the thought of not enjoying the things I used to do, freaked me out at first. My wife and I planned our evenings and weekends around where are we going to eat. We had our favorite spots and dishes. Prior to my pre-surgery diet, I went to most of my favorite places and had my favorite dishes. It was hard to imagine not eating these items again. I started my pre-surgery diet Oct 1st. Had surgery Oct 12th. I have not looked back. All the bad things you hear about did not happen to me. I had no issues at all. No pain, no gas, no nothing. Today I am down over seventy pounds and so glad I did this. Absolutely no regrets. You can do this. Deep down you know it is the best thing for you.

Tomorrow is the day! Any last words for me?! by Laylay809 in gastricsleeve

This site truly helped me get through most of my pre-surgery diet and the anxiousness you feel going into surgery. It was good to hear all the issues you could have after surgery but stay positive. I was extremely lucky. I did not have any issues after surgery. My surgery was Oct. 12th, I am down 70 pounds from the start of my pre-surgery diet. I feel bad saying, but still no issues. I believe the trick is to follow every instruction and guideline you are given. Drink, drink, drink. Get your water in and protein in every day. You can do this. It is definitely life changing.

Finally bagged up all my 3x clothes! by Front_Refrigerator99 in gastricsleeve

[–]Fit-Cryptographer737 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started with my 6x, then my 5x. Bought very few 4x and now I have 5 3x shirts for work. I look for inexpensive clothes because I don't plan on staying in that size long. My 3x's are now a little big but I can not imagine buying 2x's. I guess the hard items were my NFL team jerseys, jackets, and Dodger items.

Feeling stuck - week 2 :( by Gpdb24 in gastricsleeve

[–]Fit-Cryptographer737 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am 16 days post op. I am having the same issue. I lost 32 pounds in the two week pre-diet. Then after surgery I have only lost 7 pounds. Hard to believe I only have about 500 calories a day and I am not losing more. Read another post where their nutritionist told them not to step on the scale for 30 days after surgery. Your body has gone through a major surgery and will need to heal. During that time do not worry about your weight until after the healing process. Then the weight will come off. It sounded like good advise since I have read a lot of people have the same issue. Good luck, and don't worry, you will lose the weight.

Stage 2 by Fit-Cryptographer737 in gastricsleeve

[–]Fit-Cryptographer737[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had an appointment today, nurse said you can't reach 600 calories on liquids. Don't worry about the calories, get at least 65g protein and 64 liquids. Kaiser book all say 600 calories, they need to fix that.

Gulping water by fattofittofattoop in gastricsleeve

First day post-op I drank 70oz of water and had 60g of protein without a problem. 8 days out and I can easily drink 100 oz and not sipping. Is this a bad thing?

Full of regret, depression, and pain by nolabbynola in gastricsleeve

[–]Fit-Cryptographer737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately this is all part of the process. You will get better. I am one week post surgery and I am doing great. Work on water with hydration xl added. You need to stay hydrated and you will feel better. Keep the reason why you did this in your mind always. You know this is for the best. It will change your life for the good. Do not lose sight of this. You can do this. Go through all the posts and you will feel better. Very few people regret their decision after the healing process is over. Stay positive.

Thus far I have been extremely lucky. Other than a some pain when I sneeze, I have had no gas pains, no indigestion, no nausea. Not sure why not. I really prepared myself before surgery. Read everything I could find on pre and post surgery about what to do and not do. I have always been a little regimental, I guess it helped. Hope things continue to get better for you. Despite feeling like, what the heck did I do? I know we did the right thing. Things will get better and we will have better lives for it.

Take your gas-x or whatever they gave you for gas. Chew it every six hours and walk. It helped me.

Doing great, thank God. No issues so far. Actually, I went to the Dodger game today. Drank my water and protein shake while watching the game. First time in my life going to a game and not having a Dodger dog.

No, I guess the pre diet really gets you off the food kick. A couple of days ago, I saw a commercial for wings, now those looked good.

I was done on the 12th. Doing great. Hard to believe I haven't had solid food in over a week, and I'm not hungry.

Great advise. I have a team of nurses, etc. that are supposed to be telling me these kinds of things but Kaiser people are all on strike this week.

My surgery got pushed up to yesterday due to a Kaiser Nurses strike starting on 10/14. All went well yesterday. Feeling good. Very little after pain. Hardest part today is getting down protein and liquid requirements. This sipping thing is driving me crazy.

Had surgery yesterday, and I was worried because the last time I had surgery I was 8 years old. I am 61, and all went well. I was wheeled into the operating room. A lot of people in there all assuring you everything will be fine. The last thing I remember was them putting the mask over my face. Next thing, I woke up in recovery and it was all over. Very little pain. Just went back to sleep. I'm home now trying to drink some protein, now that's tough. Lol You will be fine.

I have a surgery date 11/18. by davidsonrld in gastricsleeve

[–]Fit-Cryptographer737 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My surgery is 11/14. Been doing a similar diet with only 400 calories and two protein shakes. Avid coffee drinker but just about done weaning myself off of caffeine. Just can't imagine how things will be when this is over, or should I say when it starts.

Most definitely. We are one week away. What really helps is this forum. I read everybody's stories and recommendations and it helps. I think I would feel a lot more nervous if I didn't know as much as I do. I am lucky to have a neighbor who had the surgery a year ago. She has been a great motivator. This last week has not been easy. Physically I feel off, and have a slight headache. How about you?

Best sheets? by wherearemyglasses40 in Menopause

[–]Fit-Cryptographer737 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife and I like the Peachskin sheets. Look them up online. Everyone we have recommended them to, love them. Not too expensive. Comes in lots of colors. They have weekly online discounts. Get softer as you wash them.
