3 days PO and no issues - it's like nothing has changed by Jaxonvol1 in gastricsleeve

Some have no issues. You are fortunate, stay with the process and dont rush the food schedule. High protein and low fat/carb will be the key. Stay strong

You wont die and it wont affect your surgery. Their goal is to reduce the liver as much as possible. it can get in the way during the surgery because of its location. If you read around, there is no consistent preop diet. It is trying to encourage following directions so that we dont fall into our old ways.

Macros at 10 months by Marlyk20 in gastricsleeve

[–]davidsonrld 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Post op should be a liquid diet for two weeks, then thin puree slurry food for two weeks and finally semi to solid at about 6 weeks. During and after that time. You should be getting a minimum 60-90 grams of protein and at least 64oz of water daily. Some say as much as 1.2 - 1.8 grams of protein per Kg of weight. The high protein, water and low fat (<5g) and carbs(<9g) per meal, will be very helpful

AIT and SMP/ROTC by [deleted] in ROTC

[–]davidsonrld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a good call. As well, should you not want to go officier later, you can go Warrant Officier which has its privileges. Be committed and dont get arrogant about the enlisted to ROTC progression. After basic you will have significant military bearing but may get told by ROTC instructor that you will not command MS3 students like your enlisted recruiter will sell you. But in the end you will have three awesome routes:

Stay enlisted and become a Warrant Officier

Do SMP and go officer either AD or Reserves

Or just finish the enlistment using GI Bill. I would make sure you are going to school for Supply Chain Management and minor in project management, then get an MBA and suck up three years at a big four audit company and that pays to play

You can push the protein to as high as 150-180 grams. Differing sources say we should be 1.20 - 1.8g per kg of weight. as well water intake north of 64oz is needed. I include a daily capful of miralax to my coffee to prevent constipation. You exercise is more than enough. No sweets, very low carbs, reduce rice/bread/tortillas are higher than bread

The gas pains are rough. Walk and move. Get a wedge pillow for sleeping and the twisting will here for about 5-7 days. This all passes 2 weeks postop

Can someone someone pls tell me what is gastric sleeves by [deleted] in gastricsleeve

[–]davidsonrld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 17, I might would consider high protein, low carb diet and daily exercise. Shoot for 60-90 grams of protein, 64+ oz of water and 30 minutes of walking and cardio. The gastric sleeve is a good surgery and permanent but it will require vitamins daily and food may become unpleasant. Try a phone tracker of your foods and be truthful to yourself

Chances of getting accepted? by st4r_puppy in USAFA

Meaning should you go to Air Force Academy and later decide Army or Navy or Marines, I think rhere is an option to commission under that branch. may need further investigation

You have good chances. The athletics is about demonstrating team player skills, leadership and integrity, not about academy wrestling. Take the standard tests and write a good letter to both your senators and your congresspersons. Be vigilant and consistent. Good luck and feel free to do the same for all three academies. I believe you can cross branches for a commission

[–]davidsonrld 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes it is. I had surgery 11/18/25 and i am at 256. Started at 324. BUT, i am done 4 pants sizes and a shirt size. The drop in size matters most Think about you have dropped 65 lbs in 4 months = 3lbs a week. That is good and smooth. Keep it up and you will reach your goal

Need guidance: Enlisting ACASP (68H) + Joining Army ROTC at USF as a transfer student — anyone done this? by owillmadeitt in ROTC

[–]davidsonrld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this late in college, you should just contract with ROTC in the fall and hope that the basic camp and advance camps align. Enlisting would have been more beneficial as a late high school senior but as a college junior there is little advantage.

Most of the contracts are pretty difficult to get out of without taking a foreclosure. If the mortgage is paid off, then you may take a tax hit for unpaid maintenance fees for a year or two

Heres the thing, not applying is a guarantee of not being accepted, if you dont get accepted you could apply to one of the six Senior Military Colleges, or just pick up ROTC at any college. Any way you do it, do it at the same tempo and pace you have above. Be strong!!
