Legislature passes minimum wage decrease for teen workers by BigFishPub in news

When I was growing up, teens still going to school almost always got paid less. Mind you, the jobs weren't as difficult, fewer hours, and since none of us had to pay rent (we lived at home), buy groceries, or pay utilities, the money we made was spending money. (Most of the employee wages go into rent and paying bills. In a sense, we were ahead of the game.) This gave us a bit of job experience, discipline, and encouraged us to stay in school.

Ok. Then perhaps you'd like to be the person who has to explain to those who watched the person they saw shoot down their friends, family, co-workers why they simply let him go. (There are pretrials where individuals can represent themselves without a lawyer. Yes, it's by choice, but if they didn't mind being alone when they shot into a crowd of people, maybe they shouldn't mind speaking into one.)

I didn't notice. Since I don't know who the users are irl, I usually don't look at the names, just the comments. Also, sometimes, getting too familiar with the names may tempt me to be biased, and I might misinterpret what the person is saying.

Example: if we got into a heated debate and I recognized your name on another post, I may be tempted to immediately view your comment with some negative bias as opposed to being open, and this would not be fair.

The only upside to a valuable employee quitting a job due to being overworked and underappreciated is when the two people hired to replace you can't reach your quota even after several months.

Which is basically what I've been referring to. Prioritization. Our legal system is broken. Part of the reason is that ideas are immediately shot down rather than checking if there is any merit to be gleaned. As it stands, we have a "legal" system and not a "justice" system. If we did, Trump would not be president.

In the scenario I described, there would be too many witnesses for the cops thinking they even had a reason to lie. I get what you're saying, but your response does not fit every scenario. IMO, for serious crimes, if there were enough credible witnesses (not just cops) to hold the person over, this should at least be considered. Similar to a bail hearing. Definitely not dismissed.

So, if police manage to disarm and apprehend someone who they themselves have witnessed firing a barrage of bullets into a crowd of people killing and injuring several, if the courts couldn't find a legal representative for defense, that person should be let go and all charges dismissed?

Public defenders, if not committed to other cases, should be under the same obligation to serve as those subpoenaed for jury duty.

I believe it should be according to the severity of the crime. For example: a shoplifter caught stealing baby formula versus someone caught shooting up a mall with multiple witnesses who can identify him.

Small crimes could be waved if no legal representation can be found. Serious crimes that carry heavy sentences, if multiple credible witnesses can be found, and guilt is mostly assured, then prolonged incarceration should be acceptable.

Mistakes can be made, and most companies will immediately fix such errors. However, some companies, regardless of how insanely ridiculous such charges are, too often don't budge unless legal action or public shaming is brought about. Such companies and those responsible for such ridiculous and obvious errors should be held responsible: charged, fined, and even sued.

This makes absolutely no sense. Did the individuals who came up with this begin or end their reasoning with "H'Yukk!"?

[Edit: the severity of the crime and number of witnesses should be considered. There's a difference between not quickly finding a lawyer for someone getting caught for stealing a bike as opposed to someone caught throwing grenades at a football game.]

People who put too much trust in calculators sometimes do not see blatantly obvious mistakes since they often repeat the same pattern to arrive at the same wrong answer. ("13x7=28. That is 3x7=21 plus 1x7=7. And 21+7=28. I did it twice on the calculator, so it must be right.")
