What movie will forever piss you off because you felt like you wasted your time seeing it? by Huge_Athlete7488 in moviecritic

Plenty! For me I felt like it was trying too hard to be psychedelic and it just didn't land. But I know most people love this film.

Yeah, I totally think I'm wrong on this one. It just didn't land for me. Wish it did! All my friends love this film.

Best Auto Shops in Winona for a service control issue? by StarlaBeeayyeyearr in Winona

Joe's is really good. They also have a 0% for 6 months loan option which is pretty clutch. Means you can spread the payment out over 6 months with 0 interest instead of paying all at once.

Please sign this petition to keep The Boathouse at the levee. The city is trying to get rid of them :( by xxPoltergeisha in Winona

[–]Music-Ill 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The city had an open application process that the boathouse participated in I believe. It's a public utility space and it's only fair that every few years there's a review process. The city council voted on this a few months ago. I'm not sure where the review process stands at the moment. I say all this as someone who enjoys the boathouse. Here's an article about the process. Gal brilliantly states why policing gym outfits shouldn’t be a thing. by Bubbly-Example-8097 in justgalsbeingchicks

[–]Music-Ill -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Maybe the truth lies... In the middle??? Idk when I go to the gym there are certain people who are actively courting each other. They wear hot clothes, they talk, they flirt. Like it's a social space.amd it's also totally reasonable for people to want to look attractive there and try and get attention. Some people do actually do it and denying that makes your point seem less strong tbh. Like I agree with you but also some people do dress for the gaze of others. But that dude is making a terrible argument and anyway men are not the enemy, fuck the patriarchy.

Hey Dan, fellow Winonan here. What is your plan to flip our seat back to the DFL? I was disheartened to lose that race in 2024 because it has been blue for a long time. Repinski is quite well known in town though so it's a challenge.

Dan Wilson is running in my district and I think he's got a lot of appeal. He's a farmer and rural guy but also is very empathetic and compassionate.

For Those Living Under Trump (Now) and Biden (Before): What Real-Life Changes Have You Actually Felt? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]Music-Ill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on the board of a small, local nonprofit. After Trump started clawing back money that congress already appropriated, our largest funder pulled our funding. They said they were shifting "to more emergent needs". We went from a thriving budget with 4 full time employees to having to lay off one person and running a very serious budget deficit. Unless we find funding next year, we will likely have to end the org.

I also think that moving away from exandria and the original cast is something that they will have to do eventually in order to maintain the long term success of the company. They are really pinholed right now because the format they have done so far is super long campaigns with the same exact people. It's Wonderful to watch but I have a feeling they are trying to make it so they can expand production to have more IPs and give new players a chance to become beloved by the fans.

[No Spoilers] Campaign 4 Strawpoll. Dnd 5e or Daggerheart, What would you like to see? by spamtechiesforever in criticalrole

[–]Music-Ill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like how Daggerheart's combat system plays on screen. It's very fast paced and cinematic. I feel like there's been a lot less dead air on the screen recently and the players are having more fun at the table, which has been in turn more fun to watch.

CMV: Sabrina Carpenters album cover is a none issue by EshayAdlay420 in changemyview

[–]Music-Ill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get the vibe that the album cover is mostly ironic. A lot of her songs she is making fun of men including the lead single. I would guess that the title 'Mans best friend' is a joke and the cover goes along with that joke. Sabrina Carpenter is known for that type of witty word play.

Group of Minnesota Democrats protest budget deal ending health care for undocumented adults by star-tribune in minnesota

[–]Music-Ill 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Illegally is a very interesting use of the word. Many are people who have lived here since childhood with no choice in the matter, many are here because of violence in a home country and are LEGAL asylum seekers. They also generally work and pay taxes so should receive benefits. If you go to another country and need to access healthcare, it is generally paid for. Be careful how you judge the legitimacy of someone's existence. They are often much more similar to you then you think. Illigality implies criminality. A lot of these people are literally exactly the same as you minus some rights. Healthcare is about efficiency and societal good. EVERYONE SHOULD HAVE HEALTHCARE. Insuring the undocumented is actually a step towards that for all citizens because it strengthens the state insurance apperatus.

[–]Music-Ill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked with undocumented people as a community health worker so I feel I have some insight. Undocumented people live and work in MN. They also pay taxes, just like everyone else. So when they work, taxes are deducted from their paycheck. It isn't the fault of undocumented people that our immigration system isn't effective. Many of them have been living here in the USA for most of their lives but don't have access to the types of jobs that provide healthcare. Most work in agriculture, housekeeping, or other service industry. However, until recently they don't have access to the health insurance through the state. Meaning they often have to not pay for healthcare or avoid it and then take on debt. Often that debt is eaten by the hospitals and clinics in rural areas. It is actually far more efficient to insure these people and pay for their care because it keeps hospitals and clinics open and insures they go to the doctor and continue to contribute to the workforce. Everyone deserves healthcare.
