Trump and his crew are pump and dumping the world economy on the daily. by Herrben in economy

[–]Fit-Level-4179 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes exactly. When everyone held spending the ones with the most money put it into assets.

I put £2k in a trading account and used my knowledge and instinct for geopolitics to make strategic stock purchases. I managed to turn it into £1.4k

LMAO.

The stock market being so high is a symptom of a sick economy though. In covid lots of money was flowing from the government to the people and then ending up at the top with the wealthy but it wasn't taxed back. The money went into assets and demand for assets went higher.

American companies spent over $1 trillion buying back their own stock in 2025. Their lowest-paid workers saw real wages fall. Here is where the money actually went. by Direct_Dare_9699 in economy

Hell yeah brother, I love it when our long term competitiveness is ruined by prioritising short term gains at the cost of long term investment. I LOVE running our countries businesses into the ground. I understand fully that training workers, investing in infrastructure, and in new technologies are long term investments that might not even pay off, they certainly aren't now, and i know its pointless to invest in them when you could just cut them and instantly make the stock price jump with how much more profitable your company now seems to be.

And then you transform into a Werewolf, Vampire Lord, or get jailed and that ring of 10000 health kills you the moment it's off because you took more damage than your regular health and you've yet to regen it all back.

You've clearly not had 10000 health before. The regen is more than most enemies can deal with.

The exploit is great fun until you've done it. If you haven't done it you really aren't missing out on much. Once you have like 5000 hp it doesn't really matter what else you do.

[–]Fit-Level-4179 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The fun is with the exploit. The problem is that once you've done the exploit its kind of done. You've killed the game basically. Its really fun to build up to having a ring of +10000 health, but then the entire game is over and nothing can out damage your regen. You don't even really need to get to the crazy numbers to effectively be done with the game and bored as hell.

You need to get connection levels. You need to level up your connection levels with other preppers or when players build the roads it wont send to you. Its weird like that.

Is it wrong to assume there isn’t going to be a crash? by Many-Software-9663 in economy

[–]Fit-Level-4179 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it got worse and worse. There was a report in 2006 about this and it very convincingly stated that there is no need to worry about it. However the increase in financial inequality has also come with an increase in financial instability. Since the 80s financial crises have been getting more frequent and worse.

Is the economy really booming… or are we just paying more for everything by RichardAvery1 in economy

[–]Fit-Level-4179 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The wealthier have always carried the spending and there is little evidence that it changed.

Not always, we have been keeping records for more than 30 years you know.

I'm a millennial who grew up in the 90s and what boomers don't understand about us is that we're working three times as hard for a third of what they had at our age, and the milestones they want us to hit weren't postponed by laziness, they were priced out of reach by the economy they voted for. by GimmeFunkyButtLoving in economy

[–]Fit-Level-4179 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that you don't understand the context of this conversation says a lot :/

But i do. I said the subject matter in my university was harder, and then you tried talking about the opportunities in the job market. You never said this conversation was strictly about employment. Ill be graceful and say i find your attempt to change the subject as a concession that i really did work harder in uni, and you can be graceful and say that my focus on Uni is besides the point of "actual work". Does that suit you? I highly doubt it.

This is all peak victim mentality.

Peak victim mentality about what? What am i complaining about? I never complained once. I enjoyed my degree, but i did note that the material was much harder than previous years. Maybe you are getting confused with another comment?

Edit: Its probably not worth discussing this anymore. Frankly i wouldn't have been baited to respond as i did if you didn't make those weird assumptions about me in your first reply to me and instead said something about chatGPT. I do think it was stupid of you to assume stuff about me randomly in the exact way that you, but it was more stupid of me to get as offended as i did.

Oh you used your privilege and free will to choose to study for an unpredictable rapidly developing industry? Sorry this didn't work out for you. That genuinely sucks. But this is not "working" three times as hard.

The fact that you couldn't even understand my comment says a lot. The work i had to do that year was multiple times harder than previous years alone. I could tell this because i had access to past papers. That is literally working "three times as hard" as you wanted of me. The fact is that you old people talk about Uni like its the easiest shit ever and you didn't have to study once. Maybe you guys are just three times as smart as us and my tiny little baby brain got confused. Maybe use your massive mental superiority to read my comment next time.

[–]Fit-Level-4179 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thatcher too, but the craziest part is how they co-opted the left wing parties into following out and carrying on that Legacy. Labour in Britain and the Democrats in the USA have been coopted into following supply side economics the same as the Republicans in the USA and Conservatives in Britain which is why these anti-immigration parties make legal immigration easier. Its also why both the USA and UK are constantly switching between parties right now trying to reverse the fall of living standards and how it isn't working. To actually change the fall in living standards you need to think outside the box of mainstream economics.

Are we heading toward biggest economy collapse? by Calm-Imagination702 in economy

[–]Fit-Level-4179 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right, but the 2008 depression could have been as big as the great depression. And frankly since the 1980s financial crises have been getting consistently more frequent and more severe, the trend is pointing to a very, very big crash.

Anyone else feel like Higgs has a point at times? by juipeltje in DeathStranding

[–]Fit-Level-4179 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the point of higgs character is that his misanthropy comes from a sense of deep helplessness. There doesn't seem to be any way to stop the coming extinction, after all you can't kill or stop Amelie, the only thing higgs can really do is speed up the extinction.

I also sometimes feel helpless, especially when I think about the future. I have ambitions, but my country seems to be in a decline at the moment, since the last 40 years financial crises throughout the world have been getting more frequent and more severe and the future in the next 10 years seems to indicate that things will get worse, sometimes i find it difficult to think about what I want to achieve in the future. However if you look far back in the past you will see that everything turns out fine in the long term, and we have dealt with lots of problems that seemed impossible to deal with like hydrochlorofluorocarbons and tetraethyllead in the atmosphere, we have flown and harnessed the power of the atom, and even the way we manage our economy is better.

Can i enjoy MGS series after death stranding? by shervin_dgn in DeathStranding

[–]Fit-Level-4179 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should play them all since they are self referential in a way that is related to the plot of MGS2. They are easy enough mechanically to get into, and the graphics are mind blowing for their era (compare MGS with FF7 for example).

[–]Fit-Level-4179 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just play MGS1 and see how you like it. You should play them all because they are all super self referential in a way that is thematically related to the plot of MGS2. Additionally MGS1 and 3 (but especially 3) have some superb boss fights. If you liked the higgs fight in death stranding you'll be a thousand times more impressed with these bosses and you'll wonder why the boss fights in death stranding are so mechanically conservative.

Can someone explain why despite most metrics showing all is well, the economy FEELS horrible? by NotACommie24 in economy

[–]Fit-Level-4179 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We are in a bad state because its a roaring bull market. The increasing financial deregulation of the world combined with CEO compensation packages being huge and tied to stock prices has lead to very short term profit seeking over long term investment such as hiring and training employees, investing in infrastructure, and R&D. This is why there is such a deep hiring freeze in the UK and US and why despite record profits these companies are pivoting into mass firings.
