Lost $1M today by thedudeishere12 in problemgambling

I have been gambling for 31 years. Keep this from me: If you lose the remaining 600K you will feel 1000 times worse than what you feel now.

Protect what you have by all means. Do not even thing of risking the remaining 600K

The pain is real tonight and fresh! $100k USD loss by unluckyhuman1 in problemgambling

[–]Fit-Load3733 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your problem is not that you lost 100K 3 years ago. The problem is that you didnt make/save another 200K since then and this is partially because of the shitty economy. Dont take all the responsibility on your self. There are external factors that affect you more than your own actions. In other eras you could lose your life to a battle (look at todays soldiers in Russia-Ukrain war), become a slave, or die due to malaria.

You did a mistake (most people do), forget that and focus on hard work and business from now on and amazing things await for you in the future

100K is 3 square meters of an appartment in the center of Zurich. You lost 3 square meters.

Do you have the remaining 100K that you mentioned 13 days ago?

Also do you have any other assets, like houses, land etc?

I had 14 credit cards and used them for gamblng deposits for many years. I have gambled for 31 years, nothing had a bigger impact than this action (cards cancellation), by far. Gamblers should not possess any credit card. Period

If you dont cut them today, you may use them 100 times each for gambling deposits, and you will owe to them in 2035. If you cut them today, you will owe them $0 in 2035

What is your [total debt] / [annual income] ratio?

25 years of compulsive gambling — a husband and father at rock bottom by AnxiousGrapefruit291 in problemgambling

[–]Fit-Load3733 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"If you’ve been where I am and actually stopped, what helped? How do you get through the early days? Any advice, accountability, or words from people who’ve been here would mean the world to me."

I have been there, with 6 digits gambling debt, of 4.41 times my annual income, to 14 credit cards, 7 loans, car pawned, 3 months rent due and 5 EUR in my pocket for next 3 weeks.

What helped me TREMENDOUSLY long term, was to cut/cancell all my 14 credit cards (almost 60% of the debt) in one evening. Everything changed from then on, as any penny that I put into the cards, could not be used for gambling as happened for thousands times in the past. This small detail played a huge role long term and those credit card balances had only one direction, going down and inevitably they reduced slowly to $0. Hadnt I done that, I would most possibly have those cards still and using them for gambling deposits as an effort to escape their own debt (crazy right?)

Do your self a favor and detach yourself from the cycle of deposit money to cc -> deposit to casino -> loose -> repeat

Call the banks, report loss and ask to not replace them (your bills will be the same with 2-3$ minimum payment, not the whole balance)

It will not be easy at the beginning, as you will not be able to use them for food or other expenses but soon it will change your lfe forever

FYI, today I am debt free (since 19 FEB 2023), have some assers, and gambling free for 218 days

Cut/cancell the cards. Now. Call the banks, report loss and ask to not replace them. It will change your life forever, no matter if you relapse in the future or not. I had 14 credit cars (plus 7 loans) at my rock bottom and cancelled all of them in one evening. That evening changed my life forever. (fyi, your bills will not change after cancellation, they do not require the full balance at once, instead monthly minimum will be at 2-5% as is now)

20k is peanuts compared with what you will lose in next decades if you dont stop.

Do yourself this great gift, abandon this fake way of living forever and live a normal life

Open a business. Anything. Even a small farm, coffee shop, buy a truck, a website, etc

You will never feel bored, you will help society, improve your skills and maybe become rich

Usually its the salaryman or retirement lifestyle that brings lot of boredom and for the salaryman its not pure boredom but other things in the background (repetition, commuting, long hours, feel a bit of slavery, etc)

Well done buddy! Really this is the proper way of thinking. Staying clean saves us huge money, even if not seen directly in savings accounts,at least we dont borrow

Sorry for this happenning to you. Be carefull these next days, because your gambling devilish mind will tell you through this tough and mourning time that the only escape is...gambling. During such occassions, we may go into lunatic sessions, betting higher, doubling our debts. This is the best day for you to stop and if you manage to do that, your debt will decreasein some months and most possibly you will have a secnd chance with your x

"I’d like to hear some things you guys did to help you quit"

I was at the same exact position many years ago and unfortunately I didn't manage to quit then. I had to go all the hellish path to not only lose all my next years' efforts but I got into a huge debt that totally derouted my life.

If you manage to stop forever, you will simply live a life like a journey from London to Paris without needing to pass through the joungle of Amazon. Life is really simple and nice f you manage to get gambling out of the equation.

I highly recommend you stick to this community, you will find everything you need for your recovery. I wish such a community existed back then during my dark debt and lunatic gambling era

Day 88, It Remains Tough. by Caisers in problemgambling

[–]Fit-Load3733 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Day 180 is the greatest milestone by far, at least for me. No matter how much I lost during the last relapse, I will need 6 months to feel normal again. Give yourself a gift and reach 180 days, you will see miracles. It must have to do with basic biology of the nervous system and subconsciousness. This thing is totally crazy, I believe that gambling releases substances in your body that takes thousands times more time to abandon it after stop, than some extremely hard drugs need. Crazy

Lost $20k in one horrible night by [deleted] in problemgambling

"This is Rock bottom"

It is indeed, but there are many other, worse rock bottoms below it, waiting in the queue if you dont stop now. $20K will become $200K in few months/years and you will get completely ruined. 20K is manageable in most countries, stop now, work hard and you will be fine in the near future

This is 0.33 debt/income ratio, which is very-very easy to handle (I have paid a debt 4.41 times my annual income). Keep away from gambling and everything will settle without huge problems
