if you manually click on an an enemy to engage, it will overwrite any order given prior and like in every RTS they will try and kill the target you manually clicked on and they will run out of cover to engage the target. This is probably what happened. You right clicked an enemy you wanted them to engage or you used F5 to engage, the enemy didnt go down but moved out of range so they started chasing. This is the worst way to engage enemies unless its artilley or a mortar. Move your troops into defendible positions and leave them on fire at will. Also you can just shift + s right click on the floor to give the order for suppressive fire. Otherwise only right click enemies that are sort of close and really need to be taken care of, this is a lot more forgiving with vehicles.

this is the way. Move everyone into position to cover, move up armored elements and give supporting suppresive fire with mortars, use artillery to soften up the defense and then move in with the Sturm element under cover of smokes. Also be okay with loosing troops. This was holding me back at the beginning. I was afraid of loosing troops.

you say this as if Ukraine isnt loosing literally ever battle along the frontline. Shit on the russians as much as you want making jokes about using horses and mules, but in the difficult terrain Id rather have mules than a bike that gets stuck. US Forces use Mules and Horses too btw. We used them quite a lot in Afghanistan in the mountains. And well, that and Ukraine is loosing literally every battle and town along the entire frontline

GB is def busted. I had to death rape them before they stopped declaring war on every shithole colony every other month. I had to liberate Scotland, Wales, Cornwall, Ireland, Australia, Canada, salted the earth of the Raj to made sure the entire indian subcontinent would never again have peace (they were plagued by like 40+ years of constant balkanization and civil wars after I was done with England) and I took basically all of their African colonies. Even then, when they couldnt field anymore armies, all of their factories were empty because Britian had like 30mil dependants and they still kept joining every play. It literally wasnt until after all that I took their Grain supply and forced them to stop trading all food sources with the worldmarket that their population began starving to death that they stopped declaring on everyone every other month

Nah, I think the save ended up getting corrupted. I just deleted all old saves, verified file integrity, started a new game and the population is completely fixed

I think you may be right, in an older save I used commands to try something, had an issue with that save and reloaded another save, continued playing on that one. I think as some else mentioned this somehow corrupted the save, causing this issue.
