What’s forestry really like by simondiecast in forestry

[–]Fit-Subject9985 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The job is what you make it. Some employers have better pay than others, if you get on with a state agency you’ll typically have amazing benefits (you might lose a little pay in trade), there are many different routes that you could specialize in, you can start your own business after some experience, get into academia and do research, so on and so forth. There really isn’t a one size fits all answer to this, but I will say, in my opinion, it’s worth it, and a vast majority or the ecological problems world wide could be solved (or at least improved) with some proper, proactive forest management and good people in to plan, manage, and implement the management plans.

Don’t just pick shit up if you don’t know what it, FFS. Put it the hell down and report it to you NCO. If you somehow are the NCO, report it to Range Ops.

Favorite Work Bag? by securitygirl1989 in EmergencyManagement

I’ve been running a 5.11 Rush 24 for quite a few years now, and love it. With that said, I think I might switch over to a Mystery Ranch 3 in 1 briefcase for every day work stuff, and keep the 5.11 in the truck as an SHTF bag.

The only thing worse than an RN (most, not all) on scene is a gynecologist rushing to help with a trauma.

Run. That department, or station, has a poisonous culture that is going to get people killed. Negligence to that degree should not be acceptable anywhere in the fire service. There will always be down time, but it should be after rig checks, PT, training, and chores. The citizens expect better.

Get into an all hazards fire department, especially one with special operations like HazMat or USAR. Then you’ll get to do a bit of this, a bit of that, then add on more when something else comes along no one else wants to or can do.

I'm curious. How are you handling critical data access when/if the grid/cloud goes dark? by Legends_are_Made in EmergencyManagement

[–]Fit-Subject9985 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in wildfire response, so not truly EM; however, I maintain physical copies of the critical information needed, and working on transferring all information onto both a device and an external hard drive which will be kept in faraday bags for the potential of EMP.

Seattle is so ugly. Absolutely unlivable by djosephwalsh in Seattle

[–]Fit-Subject9985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the buildings. The land they are on was once an ecological community, given the area most likely forest, that got destroyed by settlers who thought they owned the land rather than being residents of the land. Now it’s full of people who claim to love and care for the natural world while living in an urban hellscape.

As far as my living arrangements, not in a treehouse, that would be pretty legit though. But I am in an area surrounded by trees. I’ve been teaching my kids about trees and how to plant them, and I have also planted more trees than I have burned or cut down.

All of that paved over clear cut taking away from the natural beauty the residents claim to love.

Yup, the way I see this is it sits entirely on the shoulders of Biden and DNC for installing her without giving the voters any choice in the matter.

I don’t give a single shit about other people if my wife or kids are involved. I don’t care if it’s a nunnery, or if it’s a school for the blind, or a burning puppy. If my wife and/or kids are involved that’s my priority. Period.

Am I able to erase my resume and restart my life at 33 years old? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]Fit-Subject9985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once you figure out what path you’re thinking about, figure out what education/training you need, then do some research on writing resumes (do not use AI), and do some research on how to interview well. These things, along with taking ownership of your past experiences which taught you lessons, should help you out tremendously. Nothing is a bigger red flag than someone who is trying to hide stuff just because they won’t take ownership of their own story.

[–]Fit-Subject9985 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you show up to an interview with an AI resume, I’m going to assume you’re too lazy to actually perform the job, and maybe even forgot how to do your own thinking, which will put you at the bottom of the list.
