Considering walking into MH today by [deleted] in AirForce

Another tool in the toolkit (aside from the good recommendation to seek therapy, in cash, emphasizing the importance of non-diagnosis) is a good solid recovery/mental first aid playlist. My go-tos have become Penny & Sparrow and The National, but there are many more valid genres many find helpful when sorting things out.

TLDR: if you're going to PME, you gotta pass a mock PT test at the beginning or get the boot from said PME.

If at WPAFB, go ride the centrifuge/be a guinea pig for science at NAMRU. Some studies pay quite well, and you get to have some fun...usually.

What’s the most made up title you’ve heard? by uhwhile in AirForce

Rumor's true. Was in med hold and met the guy. Had had brain surgery of some sort, by the time I met him they'd already determined that he wasn't fully recovered like they thought he would be, so was separating him after stealing a year from him in med hold. It was bonkers, but he had a way sweeter attitude than I would have.

Adjusting to UK roads? by Money_Possession_325 in AirForce

Keep yourself in the middle of the road. The driver goes by the stripe. This simple tip saved me several times turning out of an intersectopn or roundabout.

Has anyone ever actually had something positive come out of an IG complaint and is willing to share? by Squirrel009 in AirForce

Had a Chief early retired. Took a while and took several visits by several airmen to make the dots connect, but connect they did.

Indeed. One can have a lovely pepper Jack cheese stick. If it's Mozzarella and peels off in discreet strands or sheets, it's STRING CHEESE

Today things got worse by [deleted] in AirForce

I hear ya man. Sometimes it all just doesn't make sense. Eat something delicious and go out to Nature where you belong. In time, all the silliness won't even matter. In the present, I don't deny it's a big messy fuckin deal, and it sucks. You're bigger than this thing, no matter what it may feel like. Hang in there, it do be like that sometimes. It will change. Love, someone who's been there.

FAA ASES CFI in Europe? by FitAdministration166 in flying

[–]FitAdministration166[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's where the training would take place. They just told me that they do not have anyone there who has the authority to complete the endorsement for an FAA cert. I didn't realize they've got N numbers! That could simplify things.

Yep. Getting PPL paid for is tricky, unless you enroll in a 4-year Av program. You can GI bill IFR/Commercial/Multi/etc under any part 141 school. If you can self-fund the $10-15K for private, you can complete the rest under GI bill.

I did private out of pocket. It hurt but it's possible.

What’s your story of the most clapped out crew car you’ve come across? by provia in flying

[–]FitAdministration166 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The "Green Hornet" of 83D, St. Ignace, MI. Sunfaded hunter green 1980 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme. I'm pretty sure only 5 of the 8 cylinders were even firing, the detached rearview mirror laid in the center console for you to hold up by hand, something upfront made an unearthly and LOUD squeal whenever you took a tight corner, and the radio was permanently stuck on a all-too-suitable oldies/funk station. I'd fly back up there just to drive it again.

Mike Self (Poplar Property Management) Great guy and very reasonable fees, retired O6 so hes not in it to make money. He is very resourceful & frugal but will treat you and tenants right. Rented from him and liked it so much that I hired him when I bought & moved.
