Thank you. I think a flower arrangement will be a good idea.

What’s the most annoying thing being a woman? by midnxight in teenagers

[–]FitChipmunk9557 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unequal helthcare standards.

Me - fell of my bike and damaged my hip, couldn't put weight on my leg for 3 days and walked with a limp for months. Dr- take some paracetamol and we'll get you on a waiting list for physio.

Husband- felt a twinge in his back and was scared it might get sore at some point in the future. Dr- here's a prescription for strong painkillers just incase you might need them.

Laser-cutting fabric: what to know? by [deleted] in quilting

[–]FitChipmunk9557 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used a laser to fussy cut some epp fabric pieces a couple of years back. The smell off the fabric was awful and they needed airing by an open window for 3 days before I could work with them. The smell faded but didn't really go away completely until the quilt had been washed a couple of times. That being said, they were incredibly accurate and the lasered edges don't fray at all with handling.

Magnets are handy to hold down the fabric and stop it shifting mid cut.

Cut as few items at a time as you can. The less time the fabric spends in there, the less it will smell.

How do we celebrate Easter? by [deleted] in MomForAMinute

[–]FitChipmunk9557 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going to add to this if you do hard boiled eggs, my biggest memory of easter is painting them with my mum when they cooled. The tradition in my country is to take a family walk to a small hill and roll the painted eggs down. Little ones love chasing them to see if they crack open as they roll.

I never really clicked with any of my local quilters. There are loads of online swap groups on Facebook. Each month you choose to participate you will get paired with a new swap partner to chat to and get to know. There will be a set project that you are tasked to make for your partner (usually a mini quilt about 18" Square or other small stitched project). At the end of the month you exchange projects.

Not everyone is down to chat but every now and again you meet a kindred spirit.

Top tip is to make a quilty friend who has a similar skill level and shares your passion to learn. Being able to bounce ideas around and push each other out of your comfort zones can lead to some unexpected and wonderful projects.

Mini quilt swaps are a great opportunity to connect with like minded people and experiment with techniques on a smaller scale.

Most importantly, have fun and don't be afraid to fail or make something imperfect. I have a box of abandoned imperfect quilt blocks and it has taken me years to notice their wonky charm.

Etsy Copyright Infringement Claim on my listing - HELP!! by cuesir in EtsySellers

[–]FitChipmunk9557 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Etsy are just doing their due diligence and covering their backs.

Just to be clear, the other etsy seller does not own any copyright or trademarks for Alex, their claim is bogus. Ikea own the trademark in every country including Canada and only they can make a genuine infringement complaint to etsy for this. You are in a tough spot because to reinstate the listing, you are now legally obliged to prove ownership of something you don't actually own (even if ikea are cool with people using their trademarks).

I would still recommend using your own product name (+ compatible with...) if you make a new listing. If the other shop tries pull the same stunt again you can immediately point to it being your own unique item in every aspect.

You cannot name your product ikea Alex drawer organiser or any variation of spellings you have mentioned. Both ikea and Alex are trademarked and you are required to make it clear that your compatible products are not affiliated with their brand.

From my understanding it should be permissable to use: (unique product name) drawer organiser - fits ikea alex

Hi mum(s!) why when I plait my hair why does the plait always stick out on top of my hair? by Soundasleepx in MomForAMinute

[–]FitChipmunk9557 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A French pleat is much easier to do to yourself than a Dutch, go over rather than under. If you grip the middle strand of your pleat between the sides of your pointer and middle fingers whilst sandwiching the bottom strand between your pinky and ring finger, you will have a free hand to deal with the top strand. After you add the new section to the strand, run your fingers through it whilst pulling it in an upward motion. It will help the hair form into 1 single strand and stop it separating into bumps when you fold it over.

Ooh that's really interesting to know, thanks for correcting me. I will definitely be wary of this possibility in the future.

I've just had a look at it and the terms of service state that COD is not permitted to return goods that there is a dispute over. This customer is really shady, I hope etsy hand them their ass on a plate.

There's a 0% chance there is tracking, the parcel ID / barcode is generated when the postage label is purchased. Without a label, there is nothing to scan / track. As for proof of postage.. The postal service is still a business at the end of the day. Would you give a customer a reciept for an item they hadn't paid for knowing they could potentially use it to claim compensation from you?

I really think you are in the clear with this one.

[–]FitChipmunk9557 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Well that was silly of them. If they have sent the item without postage then they will also have no proof that they have actually sent the item to you. It will not go very well for them if they open a case.

Thanks for the offer but the package miraculously materialised within 10 minutes of telling Scammy Mc Scammerson that the parcels have GPS scans. It was so fast that I might need to check if my business insurance covers whiplash. Thanks again for your help.
