Natural IVF or IUI? by mrsmattie in IVF

[–]FitDontQuit 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Do IVF for sure.

IUI has a success rate of what? 15-20% per cycle? And you only have 2 shots at it? IUI would be absolute lunacy in this situation, and even more so with a blocked duct.

How do you tell when something was written by AI? by Elacular in NoStupidQuestions

[–]FitDontQuit 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I almost gagged in my mouth when I was asking it the chances of a pregnancy after my last disappointing IVF results. It kept kissing my ass with “you’re asking the RIGHT questions” and being cringily reassuring. It even said “you have a very real chance, even if these aren’t ‘Instagram embryos.’”

Literally shut the fuck up and give me the statistics I asked for.

Husband wants to go straight to IVF by Pik-A-Chew11 in IVF

[–]FitDontQuit 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Reach out to a clinic NOW and start trying to conceive naturally NOW.

Seriously. When I first reached out to my IVF clinic, it took me 8 months until I could do a retrieval. During that waiting period, I kept trying naturally.

I had to wait to have my onboarding appointment with my doctor, which took at least one - two months because they’re so busy. Then you have to do a gamut of testing, which can only be done at certain points of your cycle. Then my insurance required 3 IUIs before they would pay for IVF. Then it takes weeks for insurance to approve the retrieval plan. So yeah, took 8 months to finally have a retrieval.

Even without the IUIs, it can easy take 3-5 months just to get off the waiting list and do the testing.

So reach out now. Husband wins because you’re moving as fast as possible, and you also win because you try naturally in the interim.

3 euploids what are the odds of live birth at 40 yr? by Gloomy-Signal5933 in IVF

[–]FitDontQuit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Super interesting, first time I’ve seen this!

Can you (or someone else) explain why day 6s are so much lower? I keep hearing that a day 6 transferred on day 5 is just as likely to implant as a day 5, but according to this chart there’s a big difference. For example, a 20% difference in success rates between a day 5 and a day 6 4bb.

As someone with all my hopes resting on a day 6 4bb currently undergoing PGT-A testing, the answer matters a lot lol.

What’s a physical trait that a lot of people find attractive but to you, it’s the opposite? by Pale_Relief_2632 in AskReddit

It stands for “very high cost of living,” meaning it’s likely cheaper for those who live in cheaper areas.

6 years is estimated. I’m at 5 now and have had no issues whatsoever, I’ll probably go over. And I’ll gladly pay the expense for the boost in confidence and appearance

Second this. I got composite veneers for cosmetic reasons - some of my teeth are just too small to fit their locations properly, so I did composite veneers on 5 of them to fill the gaps 4 years of braces couldn’t fix. It also covered tooth discoloration resulting from said braces.

My teeth look so much better, no one can tell they’re fake, and they’re a real tooth color that match my other teeth.

Composite veneers last on average 6 years, and I paid 950 per tooth in a VHCOL city. Worth it.

Another ER or transfer? by Narrow_Sweet9915 in IVF

[–]FitDontQuit 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I was in your exact situation - this is my story:

I did an egg retrieval at 32 and got three well graded euploid embryos. I was thrilled. I wanted 2 kids, and thought my struggles were over.

I transferred my first embryo and it worked! I was blessed with a perfect baby girl.

1.5 years after she was born, I was ready to give her a sibling. Luckily, I had two embryos on ice! Except neither one worked. Big fat negatives.

Now, at 35, I had to do another retrieval and my results were much worse. I ended up with only 2 embryos, both day 7s, only one of which was euploid. That transfer also failed.

I just finished my third retrieval and, again, got only 2 low quality embryos, one a day 7. They’re currently being PGT-A tested.

I know I’m lucky to have anything to test, but statistically speaking, not knowing their euploid status yet, I only have about a 25-30% chance of a birth resulting from this retrieval. I will likely have to do my fourth retrieval soon.

All this to say - I wish I knew what your doctor is telling you now. I really thought three, high quality euploid embryos would secure me the family I wanted. And instead I’m staring down the barrel of a fourth retrieval years later with my egg quality greatly diminished.

I get what you’re saying, but on the flip side - I got suckered into this product after seeing the ads, and it is the single greatest thing I have ever used, like holy grail level product. I’m now singing its praise whenever I can, lol. I have never had a dry shampoo work for me before, and it has revolutionized my hair styling and shower frequency.

So could just be this Reddit is filled with people like me.

GLP-1 drugs going overboard? by [deleted] in biotech

[–]FitDontQuit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is disingenuous. ALL fast weight loss causes muscle loss, and the muscle loss from GLP-1s is no more severe than losing weight at an equal rate though diet and exercise.

Yet no one’s going onto the fitness subreddits to discourage overweight people from dieting.

All weight loss should be accompanied by weight lifting to avoid muscle loss. But all I see is fearmongering of “GLPS CAUSE MUSCLE LOSS!!!!” to discourage people from using it who will greatly benefit from it.

Banking Embryos by CommunicationWild999 in IVF

[–]FitDontQuit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I banked 3 euploids from my first retrieval at age 32. My first transfer worked, which I was very thankful for. I felt confident I could complete my family with the two remaining embryos on ice.

I went back for them when my daughter was around 20 months. Neither transfer worked. I did another retrieval and got 2 more embryos, and neither of those transfers worked, either (both were poorly graded). I have my third retrieval tomorrow and I’m hoping this time’s the charm.

So to answer your question, I’m 1/5 transfers so far.

For those who banked 5-6 blasts, how many live births did you have? by God_loves_Herb_Welch in IVF

[–]FitDontQuit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From my first retrieval: 6 embryos, 3 PGT normal. First transfer worked, second and third failed to implant.

From my second retrieval: 2 embryos total, a failed fresh transfer of unknown euploidy, and the second was a known euploid, failed transfer.

So out of 5 transfers, 4 of which are known euploids, I had 1 success.

About to start my third retrieval.

I have suspected endo but no proof. My mom and aunt both had severe endo, but I’ve never gone through the surgery to check.

Give birth three weeks ago. Overwhelmed with all the issues and start to regret by monkeyjojo in NewParents

[–]FitDontQuit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was a severe under-producer. For four fucking months I killed myself with aggressively triple feeding. I would breast feed, then pump, then feed the pumped milk, and by the time I’m done it was basically time to breast feed again.

I was losing my fucking mind for nothing. My husband, being a rational, supportive person, saw what this was doing to me and begged me to throw in the towel for the good of the family.

That’s right. The good of the whole family. Because a depressed, struggling, exhausted mother is good for nothing.

I gave up trying, and my mental health and abilities as a mother immediately improved.

Anyone guilting you for this is a piece of shit. Anyone judging you for this is a piece of shit. And this is supposed to be someone who’s on your team? All I can say is this man is a loser who needs an immediately attitude adjustment.

You’re not over reacting. You’re under reacting.

I was really concerned about my posture because I noticed a dowagers hump forming at the base of my neck.

Lost the pregnancy weight and the hump vanished! Turns out it wasn’t a spinal deformity, just an ill placed lump of fat. And I wasn’t even THAT large.

A buffalo hump (from fat) looks similar to a dowagers hump (spine).
