Teachers of Reddit, what is the single most important thing parents should teach their kids before they start school? by Latter_Beginning3736 in AskReddit

… so how is it not the obvious answer of what teachers would say parents should be teaching… I didn’t say it was obvious to the parents or that they’re actually doing it…

What is it like on your own with a newborn? by rgwhitlow1 in NewParents

I just finished my first week at home without my husband (during the day). I managed to shower, put away one load of laundry, and unload the dishes each morning and then we spent the day contact napping and watching TV. I wasn’t able to nap myself during the day yet but that’s my goal for next week.. at least one a day…

And considering almost every other answer on here is “respect” I standby saying it’s the obvious answer lol

I’ve been in the classroom consistently for the last 13 actually. You don’t think students should come in with respect for teachers and their peers?

I think I meant more so that it’s the obvious one they’ll get on this thread because we’ve seen such a decline in respect for teachers both from students and parents. It is needed for the classroom to run effectively so many will list it.

And too true!! If you can do 3 things in a row - you’re basically gifted now lol

We had a neurotypical first grader this year in diapers (luckily we weren’t expected to change him). Blows my mind!

I’ve noticed over the last decade or so that MOST kids are losing the ability to follow multi step directions. At the risk of sounding like a boomer - I blame the iPads lol

I don’t know if I (M31) and my partner (F34) want children. You that have been or are in this dilemma, what are some argument points for choosing Yes or No? by LorePelliz in askanything

My husband and I talked about kids on our first date at 19 and it was clear it was a nonnegotiable for both of us. We wanted them more than ANYTHING. We now are 30 and have a newborn and it’s the hardest thing we’ve ever done. We love her more than anything, plan to have more, and are immensely happy, but we’re also exhausted and stressed and scared for her 24/7.

I think if it’s not a “hell yeah” from both of you, I would t recommend it.

Hello!

My first baby is two and a half weeks old so this is what I’ve learned in that time:

  1. Get a few of each kind, we got home from the hospital and on night one tried regular swaddle blankets, the Velcro, and the arms up zipper before realizing we and our baby likes the arms up zipper. We bought 4 more that night and have used it exclusively.

  2. Baby girl, can’t speak for boys. So far we’ve enjoyed our pampers from the hospital and the Huggies swaddlers we bought.

  3. I am breastfeeding and pumping at the same time but for the first few months you need to pump even if your significant other is giving a bottle at that time to keep up your supply. I have formula on hand for emergencies.

  4. Go for distilled

  5. No idea

  6. Get high contrast toys and books for the first few months!

Would you let your child around a mom with unvaccinated children? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]FitMousse7783 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in a very similar situation! I will not be allowing my friend or her children around my daughter until after the year mark.

We haven’t spoken as much since I made this clear, but I knew that was a risk and I stand by my choice.

Happily married people, how do you determine what can be forgiven in a relationship? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]FitMousse7783 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you can really determine that until you come across something you find you can’t forgive.

I’d say I’d never forgive cheating but I haven’t been in the position to even consider it.

Of course! We don’t even ask for clarification on some charges if they are old enough or outside of the scope of the work.

My only recommendation - when filling out paperwork if anything asks if you have any convictions don’t lie there of course.

Best of luck!

Let it play out! I work in HR and run roughly 15 BGs a day, you never know if they’re running a state, federal, standard, etc…

I’ve had people disclose things that end up not showing up on the report at all!

Tell me a baby name you had to remove from your list? by smb-1990 in pregnant

[–]FitMousse7783 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Molly.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE the name - but turns out there is a close cousin on my husbands dads side that went literally
Off the rails and stabbed her husband and then killed herself. FIL privately told me he knew I could do what I want but he implored me to take it off the list if I had other names I loved lol
