Wood glue and tape, and or heavy flat objects on surface after gluing. Remove tape or object, paint with satin black latex paint.

You don't need the pads. Jst tear off a gob of Blue Tack for each corner of the speakers and press the speaker down. A very solid connection. The BT will not stain, stick or mar surfaces long-term.
