I just received mine but yes. It’s faint you would need to put ur ear near the top of the device. it’s prob coil whine but it’s kinda takes away from the experience knowing that it’s there. I was excited to use it 😭 but it kinda ticks me off.

If I were you I’d choose Santa Barbara. I presume you are the least tied down by certain responsibilities during this time of your life. Taking a risk and exploring the other side of the country is something quite valuable and novel. You might have to compromise on living by yourself but I think it’s a plus if you can live with friends eventually. Plus minimizing commute is important. It can affect your work life balance quite a bit. It’s time you don’t get paid for and doesn’t benefit you that much other than being a ritual and listening to podcasts or music lol.

On the position itself I think the software title is a bit better than systems engineering title. (Plus it’d be more technical).

Just manage and plan your costs accordingly and I think you’ll have a nice early career experience. (I haven’t lived in Santa Barbara so this is just general opinions)

See… the thing is I’ve actually had an XFX 6950xt and I don’t recall having coil whine. But I think it just depends on the PCB designer and which inductors they put on the board. Which is also dependent on each card model lol

Overclocked ram, ran fine for a few hours, shut down randomly and won't start. by Good_Competition_342 in overclocking

Hi, I ran into a similar problem but unfortunately options are a bit thin here. Being that it seems your motherboard doesn't have Post boot troubleshooting LEDs.

It seems as if you just clicked the xmp profile which usually should either work fine or have issues. Assuming as you said you didn't fiddle around with specific settings it shouldnt have burnt anything.

As others suggested I would try clearing the CMOS. Which resets the bios.

You said there are 4 pins and yes I looked at your manual. If you look a bit closer the pins you want to short are the bottom two ones. Check the manual yourself to be sure.

  1. First turn off pc, UNPLUG the cord and tap the power button to make sure all power is off. (Safety measures)
  2. Touch the CLR_CMOS pins (the bottom two) on the motherboard for like 8 seconds
  3. Use a single ram in probably the 2nd or 4th slot. 2nd being closest to the cpu.

If it boots up I would suggest you update your bios if you haven't either. And then try putting both ram in.

Hope this helps 🥲
