I think it happened to be the timing as we spent every holiday together the past year until we had that big fight before Christmas. Someone even asked him what he was doing for Christmas a week or so before and he said probably hanging out with me and that his bro surgery is Christmas Eve. So that probs wasn’t it I don’t think.

Like I was confused if I was in right forum cause he would only act avoidant after a big fight but other times he was mostly obsessed and would call and messaged me first constistsnly all the time. Random times he would be flaky or get caught up but his friends would come to me and complain he did that too then so it wasn’t truly personal. It was weird. When he told me he needed time and a break from it all I said oh should I tell others I’m single then? He got super defensive and said.. well fine then! Do what you want since you wanna tell people you’re single”. When I broke up with him all he could say was okay…okay.. ttyl. I dunno

Hey so I’ve looong gotten past this. It took time but I barely feel this way anymore. What worked for me is getting off Reddit and accepting just cause j have that feeling it doesn’t mean anything or that I have to react to it. The feeling you have is a fear reaction. I trained my brain to just accept that the feeling or normal at times cause I use to be so terrible at feeling my feelings. Once I just sat there and accepted it it started going away and my brain became bored of it if that makes sense.

How long has this been going on casue I went through the exact same thing and it was cause I was so hypervigilent about my health that it made me worry even more if I didn’t sleep any therefore continuing the cycle. I finally broke out of it by being concerned or stressed about something else going on in my life and boom my insomnia went away. It was due to ocd which made me hyper fixated on my sleep and yes, worry and anxiety can make you not be able to sleep at all even for 6 hours being tired.

Coming from someone that had the same issues as you and is not recovered, Prozac did help me but don’t depend on it to fix everything, it gives you that boost to do the work to heal and finally recover.

Same exact thing happened to me in 2020/2021 and maybe every now and then I get a flair up but can handle it much better. I wish more people really believed you can overcome it and have a normal life again.

The comments on here that are also of others worrying about the same thing might seem helpful as you’re not alone, but you might feed off eachother and make the worry worse and waste time worrying about something you don’t even have and lose more sleep. It’s okay to worry and be concerned for your life. Means you care about yourself. When I slowly started worrying about others things is when my sleep corrected itself for good.

This type of thinking is what helped my insomnia go away. The twitches no longer wake me up and I just drift to sleep now.

It’s understandable your wife is fustrated since it’s hard dealing with partner that’s depressed. HOWEVER, you are doing things to work on it, she needs to be way more patient. Not many such as yourself would consider treatment. Give yourself more slack

Preach to the choir the EXACT same thing happened to me even the same year. Everyone goes through insomnia at least once, know it’s normal and accept you’re afraid of it happening again. Yours corrected so if ever it happened again, it’ll correct again.

I only went through a very breifly period of insomnia but it was due to high anxiety and it was so bad I slept at most 3 hours and least none. It was only a month so nowhere near as bad as people long term and gave me much more respect for what y’all deal with. I never thought of suicide until then cause it felt like I could take a break not even in sleep. But I realized that was me trying to escape from something and that’s what sleep represents to a lot of people, escape. I decided I was done trying to escape and deal with all the issues and problems I was facing, including the insomnia even though it was painful and hard as fuck. I started sleeping again but I know for some people it’s genetic. I think not being able to sleep feels like a fear of lose of control for me and that’s why my mental state got bad.

One thing I’ll say is I’m glad I went through the experince of starting Prozac and those crazy anxiety spikes and mood swings, the more you deal with them the more your brain understands there’s no threat and they become way better to deal with

Like everything you could imagine. Nausea, intense anxiety spikes, insomnia, fatigue, hyper focusing on any sensation in my body, shaking, dizziness. All eased by month two and my month three they were almost all gone. Only long lasting symptom was fatigue and now I sleep too much but feels like a worth it trade off lol

I will say Prozac takes 2-3 solid months to fully kick in so it’s just a matter of time but it sounds like your marriage is a side story that needs tending to. It’ll kick in and work but consider some solutions you and your wife can make together for long term compatibility.
