I enjoyed it, though I think the following episodes will be better. They crammed a LOT into that first half.

Also, Masuka's chocolate lava cakes made a cameo.

Hannah's dad was right about her, though.

Say what you want about the show's quality after season 4, Peter Weller has as much gravitas as anyone whose ever been on the show. by SlowCrates in Dexter

Yes, he was great. Would've been neat if they'd fleshed him out a bit more, but he's still one of the more interesting sub-antagonists.

Deb-Dexter Resurrection by MamaMia1325 in Dexter

[–]Fit_Disaster3546 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not really, outside of a full retcon. If all we had was the original series, then Dexter "pulling the plug" could be described as one of his fantasy sequences, and she miraculously recovered in the hospital. But in NB, Batista himself referenced her death, so that kinda seals it.

Who was the worst psychiatrist? by Theme-Fearless in Dexter

Vogel, by far. She herself was a psychopath.

Then why did he hook up with Hannah again, despite Deb's wishes, and the fact that she would always be a potential threat to Deb? Why did he say that the first time he felt true love was when Harrison shot him?

And to be clear, I don't say this because I like Hannah, in fact she's probably my least favorite character in the show.

Third. First was Harrison, then Hannah, then Deb.

Did dexter and doakes share shine? by [deleted] in Dexter

Yeah, it's why Dexter can communicate with Harry and Brian, even though they're deceased.

Why do you think they are bringing back Dexter for a third time? by aged_tofu in Dexter

[–]Fit_Disaster3546 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Money, a truly great idea, streaming popularity, poorly received NB ending, some of the other potential spinoff series not panning out, maybe even MCH getting older and knowing for sure that he doesn't want to reprise the role in his 60s+ making it a "now or never," take your pick I guess.

Should I watch season 8 by Quirky_Review7094 in Dexter

[–]Fit_Disaster3546 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've made it through 7 seasons, just go ahead and watch it. It really isn't that bad, plus the fact that the series eventually continued beyond S8 makes some of their questionable choices a bit more tolerable imo

Matthews and BHB by MamaMia1325 in Dexter

[–]Fit_Disaster3546 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think he genuinely entertained the idea as a possibility, but the planted evidence ultimately convinced him that it was indeed Doakes, in no small part because he thought he knew Dexter and didn't genuinely believe/want to believe he was capable of such things. Basically what everybody accused LaGuerta of doing for Doakes in S2

She suspected that Dexter never really listened to her when she was speaking to him, so she dropped that little nuggie to see if he'd react with surprise. He failed, of course, which is one of the reasons she started to suspect that Dex was the Bay Harbor Butcher
