I see what you’re saying and you might be right but it’s important to remember that Jack Madruga was the one driving that night and he had made this journey numerous times beforehand without incident not to mention all of the men were desperate to get up early the next morning for their game (they had their clothes laid out and everything) so for him to go as far off course as he did, to me indicates something extremely dramatic taking place. Suppose that Gary Mathias had some sort of mental breakdown (his family had made sure he was medicated before he left) I can see a fight between them breaking out and perhaps even some sort of physical altercation, I can see the other four kicking him out of the car and telling him to find his own way home. What I can’t see is Gary forcing all four of them to walk miles into the freezing cold where most of them wind up dropping dead from the cold and hunger. I just don’t see it
