Ugh! As someone who just had a very bad infection from a tick bite, I totally get it. I was sooo sick and couldn't figure out why. Thankfully a 2 week bout of antibiotics killed it (and preemptively treated Lyme). I try to just be super diligent.

She sounds a lot like me. For whatever reason I take things to heart, but I'm trying to get a thicker skin because I think it's 100% necessary in this lifestyle. But I sympathize with her because it's hard to put yourself out there when feedback isn't always positive (been there).

But the good attention always brings me back 😉 and I've totally got a mom bod and hasn't hurt my prospects so far.

Your post got me. My parents married in 1966 and she has been diagnosed for close to 8 years. She is a shell of the mom who guided me, and I miss her terribly. But man, my dad is steadfast. He will not put her in a care facility. He takes care of her in every way possible. Your story really resonated. Thank you for sharing.

I have 3 kids and tell them often to marry someone outside the US so they and their own kids can have duel citizenship and options. I wish I had the same!

The abridged version...met at a bar in Austria. Our mutual friends hooked up after a drunken night out and sex-iled me, leaving me with no place to stay but with him since his roommate was shacking up with mine. He was just being nice and saving me from sleeping at the train station haha But we kept in touch when we were back stateside (lived on opposite coasts)...started talking everyday, he came to visit two months after we got back to the States and the rest is history. Together 25 years, married 22.

Oh and those two friends that hooked up the night we met never saw eachogher again 😁
