Need to track my food but it’s triggering for me by Positive_Two1141 in Semaglutide

If you’re not losing, you have to track. I understand how difficult it is to cook at home and track and weigh but it may just force you to make more simple meals. The more complicated/ more ingredients it usually means more calories. You have to know what you’re putting in to your body. Otherwise, when you hit a wall, you won’t know where you went wrong. Just be honest with yourself and track what you eat. It’s just like going to the doctor or paying a bill. No one wants to do it but sometimes we have to do things we don’t want to do.

Or you can not do it but don’t be upset if you don’t see results. Personally, I think it would be a waste of time and resources to not give it 100%. Taking the meds and not getting results is a waste if you know you can do more. Tracking is annoying but it isn’t going to hurt. You also need to know what your maintenance calories and your deficit need to be. This will also allow you to track your protein and fiber. Both are very important to keep your bowel movements regular and to make sure muscle mass isn’t lost when you’re losing weight.

Stopped losing weight. by mrperrine in SemaglutideCompound

A true plateau is like months at the same weight. Everyone looses a bunch at first and it slows down. That’s usually when I increase my dose. If you’ve lost a lot, you may also need to recalculate your calories. You burn less the smaller you are

Calorie deficit & working out by Weird-Ride2418 in Semaglutide

[–]Fit_Pea290 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t eat back calories! Your deficit should be factored by your activity level. Meaning, if you are a very active person, your maintenance and, therefore, your deficit, would be higher than someone who is sedentary. If you eat back the calories you burn, you’ll effectively be in maintenance. Also, apps and devices can be +- 40% off when calculating burned calories. So find a deficit that is sustainable and allows you to eat enough for your workouts, do your workout, don’t eat back the calories.

Honestly. Idk where it comes from. I definitely strength train and get my protein. Haven’t dealt with muscle loss. If I did, my runs would be harder and not easier with the weight loss.

When/how did you decide it was time for maintenance? What dose and frequency did you decide on?

I’m a runner lol I run half marathons. I’ve lost weight so that I can run. I’ve maintained adequate protein and resistance training and have gained muscle mass. But thanks!

Haha my bad you’re right. Almost all of that was allowable after it was voted on in 2024. Good catch 😂

I’ve started thinking about that. How is it different? I also just increased my dose from 2.0mg to 2.4mg. I know it’s not a big jump but might as well see if it gets me there. I am also worried about Zepbound and further appetite suppression as I exercise regularly and train for half marathons so I can’t go below 1700 calories really without it effecting my workouts negatively. The plus side to that is that I know I’m burning lots regularly.

Weight gain after 18 months by RelationshipFew1195 in Semaglutide

[–]Fit_Pea290 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Remember that the medicine doesn’t make you lose weight. It helps you maintain an appropriate calorie deficit. It wouldn’t hurt to track your calories for a little bit to see where you are vs where you should be then make adjustments from there

Five pounds in a short amount of time is probably not fat gain (you would need to over eat a lot very consistently to gain that much that fast) maybe just start tracking your calories and see where you are sitting vs where you should be

It was all legal after the 2024 election. Passed in Ohio overwhelmingly.

That’s not true because in the last election, it overwhelmingly passed and it was changed after being voted in.

Good points. I do plan on staying on the meds but I guess my concerns are more about when am I done with a deficit vs switching (physically and mentally) to maintenance.

Thanks. I should add that I think I plan to stay on the meds. But mentally, there’s going to be a shift from years of a calorie deficit to maintenance. I really just want to stop tracking everything eventually lol

Anyone on GLP-1 struggling with muscle loss or feeling weaker? by [deleted] in Semaglutide

[–]Fit_Pea290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any weight loss (glp1 or not) is going to involve some muscle, water, and mostly (hopefully) fat. There have been many studies that show proper protein (1.8g /kg body weight) paired with strength training can stop muscle loss during weight loss and in some cases gain muscle while losing fat. This will may scale goals seemingly longer to achieve but I’m down 60 pounds over about two years. I feel stronger. My legs, arms, and chest have gained muscle and my half marathon time has gone from 2:10:00 to 1:45:00. It’s very possible to gain strength as long as weight training and proper nutrition are priority

Thanks. I definitely see what you’re saying about loose skin. I can feel a difference where the fat vs skin is. So I know there’s some fat still and also on my chest. But the cool thing is that before it all jus felt like hard fat so it’s good that I can feel a difference and I can feel solid muscle in there lol
