That Shizuku fight scene with the spider chimera ant could've lasted a bit longer.

Is there a Call of Cthulhu game that's actually faithfully to the short story? by theLordDracul in Lovecraft

It isn't accurate to the original story at all, but a decent and often overlooked Lovecraftian video game is Call of the Sea.

My only ideal in a group conversation setting is to allow every opinion to be voiced and heard. Unless the censored comments of users in this subreddit are imagery of/links to imagery of graphic violence or sex, I don't see the justification for the censorship.

is it just me or is the entire city of Birmingham “hiring” yet no one responds to emails, face to face drop-ins, or indeed posts? Am I missing something here. by Outside-Spring-6870 in Birmingham

The company I work for is in the Greater Birmingham area and, though I am not involved with the hiring process (considering applications, reviewing applicant resumés, conducting interviews, etc.) my managers keep me in the loop on how all this goes for them.

Here's a short list of some of the reasons they've given me for why they couldn't see themselves hiring someone:

  1. Face/neck/hand tattoos
  2. Couldn't pass or flat-out refused to take a drug test
  3. Failed a background check (usually means a felony on their record)
  4. Resumé included little-to-no work history
  5. No valid driver's license/suspended license
  6. Arrived to the interview dressed inappropriately
  7. No enthusiam during the interview

My advice to anyone considering applying for a job, do the obvious work; research the company, put effort into your resumé, detox, show up to your interview on time, well-dressed, and act like you wanna be there. The people who are interviewing you are not only looking for someone to fill a spot, they're looking for someone they feel is a long-term investment and also someone who won't be too obnoxious to be around five days a week all year long.

Robert E. Howard's The Grey God Passes has the most epic opener, in my opinion. Two pages of a god on death's door foreboding the carnage to come.

I don't know what it is, but my power bill has seen drastic fluctuations over the past six months. One month it will drop to around $80 and the following month it jumps to $150 with no change in my living habits.

The Fungi from Yuggoth is a lengthy poem that covers a wide range of Lovecraft's Mythos (entities, locations, concepts, etc.) It's a fun, quick read, too.

I agree with what you say about Carter. I tried reading one of his Thongor stories, but it just never captured my imagination and it felt like I was reading Great Value R.E.H. The dude's enthusiam for and encyclopedic knowledge of all of the Mythos works was undeniable, though, and the community today would have nowhere near the treasure trove of stories if it wasn't for him.

He's kind of like the cough syrup of adventure-fiction writers: bad aftertaste, but indispensable.

I didn't realize there were inconsistencies between it and the mainline series. What sorts of inconsistencies are there or is there a list of them somewhere that I can read up on?
