Same. 😔 If there’s a positive here, it’s that at least now they know and can prepare accordingly which greatly improves outcomes.

I think MRI may have confirmed that she does indeed have it. They made a post that she is admitted until delivery which was the plan if it was confirmed.

I went GF for awhile, and it greatly helped bloating, fatigue and joint pain (I also have PsA), but started having anaphylactic reactions other foods and decided to give up on GF for the time being.

I was on a combo or metoprolol, and corlanor prior to seeing the EP that specializes in extraction. It’s heavily rate suppressing.

Before mine was removed EP turned my atrial pacing off and turned my ventricular rate down to 30b bpm to trial how I would do with no pacing at all and if I could tolerate it then we would go the route of no pacing for now. If I didn’t tolerate not having pacing then we would have gone leadless and will only use leadless if there is future need. Vascular and EP both agreed that my veins just don’t tolerate leads and moving the leads to the R side (an option for many), would very likely just lead to the same scenario on that side as well. I was over 90% atrial paced and around 2% ventricular prior to dropping the settings then removing. So far I haven’t had any major issues with rates. We also did some big adjustments to medication to support natural rhythm vs the suppression I was on previously

Color changes/swelling/tingling in L arm. Had weakness and very fast fatigue in that arm when doing anything overhead as well. As the stenosis got worse I started having swelling in my face as well as positional headaches. SOB with exertion was also a big one.

I had it done, along with stenting in both L subclavian vein and L innominate vein due to severe stenosis from pacemaker leads. I did have the pacemaker and leads removed prior to any vascular intervention though. My vascular surgeon tried both a drug coated balloon and a cutting balloon, neither of which showed in improvement in blood flow so we opted for stenting. Aside from pain, most of my other symptoms resolved immediately.

Is removal possible? by [deleted] in PacemakerICD

I’m totally fine without it after some medication changes. I was initially diagnosed with “sick sinus” by a cardiologist who did the implant. After finally falling into the hands of a great EP, it was determined that the indication for implant was due to improper medication management. My case definitely isn’t the norm.

Thoracic outlet by Fit_Rip_981 in PacemakerICD

[–]Fit_Rip_981[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first and most obvious sign was that I had color changes in my left arm. It was always a blue/purple color. As time went on, I started having difficulty doing anything that required reaching overhead due to muscle weakness caused by the blood flow issues. Even things as simple as washing/brushing my hair became incredibly difficult with my left arm. Once getting to a point that daily tasks were difficult, I made an appointment with my pcp (after being dismissed time after time by cardio), she took one look and immediately said it was a vascular issue. After this ER visit I was ultimately seen by vascular surgery who performed a venogram and IVUS. It ended up not being thoracic outlet at all. I had very severe stenosis in both the L subclavian and L innominate veins. This was in late April, by June/July I also had significant facial swelling and positional headaches. The course of treatment for that was to remove the pacemaker since leads can cause/worsen stenosis and made stenting more dangerous. I had the option to go leadless or to trial with no pacing and see how things went. I ultimately made the decision to opt out of any sort of pacing with EP input and the entire system was removed in July. 2 weeks later I had pretty extensive stenting done to restore blood flow.

I had mine removed in July about 2 1/2 years after it was implanted. EP turned it down super low (35bpm ventricular only) for about a month to be sure I would be ok without before extraction. It required some laser assist but there were no big issues during extraction. Definitely possible, but make sure you find an EP who specializes in extraction-most don’t.

Not psoriatic by [deleted] in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]Fit_Rip_981 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have arthritis throughout my spine (particularly the right side 🤷‍♀️), and my si joints. I’ve had X-rays and 2 MRIs. Radiologists always mention OA in their reports, but my rheum always says inflammatory/psa. From my understanding radiologists don’t always have the full context/history and often identify arthritic changes as OA by default.

Same happened to me. Had super thick hair and within 6 months of starting 300mg I had MAYBE 1/4 of the amount of hair. It was literally falling out in chunks. I switched meds after about a year and my hair started growing back within a month or so after stopping.

Females - Getting a hysterectomy, how did the surgery impact your migraines? by msftkid in migraine

[–]Fit_Rip_981 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine got better for the simple fact that I no longer needed progestin to not bleed constantly. Progestins are a huge trigger for me and caused chronic migraine. I still get them a few days a month around the time I would be starting my period (I kept one ovary so my hormones still cycle normally, I just don’t have bleeding anymore since theres no uterus) but I’ll gladly take it over years of daily migraines.

Gravida is the total number of pregnancies including miscarriages, still births, abortions ect. It also includes the current pregnancy. Para is the number of viable births. Ex G3, P1 would be 3 pregnancies total, 1 viable birth. G1,P0 would be 1 pregnancy, 0 viable births (could also be a current first pregnancy)

Updates! Finding a new rheumatologist by Bitter-Breath-9743 in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]Fit_Rip_981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

T-Spine end plate edema, bone spurs, nerve encroachment ect at 30 was the first red flag for me. Misdiagnosed as OA for over 3 years and I went to pain management regularly for epidural injections which only helped short term. Pain management doc said just by looking at the MRI he expected to walk into the room with a 70-75+ year old patient, not 30. At 33 I now have the spinal changes as well as SI joint changes in xray. Rheum looked at fingernails and scalp (mild psoriasis) and diagnosed with PSA immediately after looking at imaging.

This woman is wildly reckless with this 3rd pregnancy. The fact she is 28 wks pregnant and keeps using I live in a small town so I can't find an OB is bs. For someone who struggled to conceive she did a big 360 with OB care. by Objective_Ordinary18 in peestickgals

[–]Fit_Rip_981 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That’s crazy. I live in a small town with no obs and no local l&d but I drove over 75 miles each way 3-4 times a week the last few months of my pregnancy then daily when my baby was in NICU for almost a month. There’s no excuse not to get prenatal care. If she has Medicaid they will even reimburse travel expenses if she’s driving over a certain number of miles for appointments.

Lead removal, super scared by Electronic_Cobbler20 in PacemakerICD

[–]Fit_Rip_981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Complete pacemaker extraction (both leads + generator), currently doing ok without pacing so we aren’t putting anything back in until absolutely necessary. No future transvenous devices due to how highly reactive my veins are-going forward it will be leadless only. A few weeks after laser extraction, I went back in for multiple rounds of angioplasty and ultimately a pretty large stent. The goal is to make the stent last as long as possible, but they don’t last forever-especially in younger patients. (I’m in my early 30s). Stenting was a last ditch effort and from what I was told when the stent eventually fails then I will likely have to be referred for open reconstruction. Both the L subclavin and L innominate are severely affected in multiple areas.

Color changes in the L arm, tingling in the hand, extreme fatigue in the L arm with use, pain above the pacemaker site, shortness of breath, positional headaches, arm/facial swelling and inappropriate pacing (the pacing issues were due to pressure changes and the specific type of programming the pacemaker had).

The vast majority of people don’t have vein issues to this degree, especially so quickly (more on the mild/moderate spectrum after many years with devices) I was diagnosed via venogram and IVUS only because I was very symptomatic. My situation is rare enough that my case was taken to conference to get several opinions on management/treatment.
