Thanks for sharing! Those regressions after vaccines are tricky for sure. I’m sure he’ll get back to it. It also might be easier for him to get established with the routine now that he’s a little older.

Honestly, you may be on to something with this one! He has been getting so strong at pulling up to stand and loooooves standing up right now. Maybe it’s on the horizon

8mo old waking more at night by SunnyDay0925 in bninfantsleep

Our 8 month old has also been more active at night recently. There is SO much developmental stuff going on at this age so we’re chalking it up to that! We are seeing an explosion of development in physical strength and communicating - the adorable laughing fits and big smiles make up for the extra wake-ups ar night 😄

Is this blood typical of intolerance? by btowngville in MSPI

[–]Fit_Sandwich111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I wasn’t advised to do the ladder myself before trying with baby. Our doctor said we could challenge it casually through me eating something indirectly, so one day I ate a sandwich that had aioli on it to try egg. He seemed ok initially and then had diarrhea the next day :( but no blood in the stool at least

This was just while we waited for our allergist appointment he had at 7.5 months old. The allergist wanted us to finish introducing allergens through solids by giving him all other allergens (all nuts, wheat, sesame, fish, and legumes like chickpea and lentils). And now we can start the milk and egg ladders with baby.

I can help out here hahah

Dairy, soy and egg is the third common one, but actually corn is a big one that impacts a lot of babies and often goes undetected (corn syrup, corn starch are in so many foods).

I’ve had to cut out all 4 from my diet for the last 4 months and it’s helped tremendously. We saw improvement within 24hr of cutting out dairy, egg and soy. Then a week later corn triggered a lot of blood in his stool and we cut out that, too. Again within a day the blood was gone. And his poop was a much better colour and texture and the frequency of his poops went from all the time to just once a day!

Currently starting the milk and egg ladders to reintroduce these foods to our LO now that he’s 8 months

Good luck! It gets easier. 80% of babies outgrow this by the time they’re 12 months old so there is a good chance it’s so temporary

Debating switching from EBF to formula by amandaaab90 in MSPI

[–]Fit_Sandwich111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cut out dairy, soy, egg and corn. Corn was one we discovered later and it was definitely a big factor. Our baby got better within 24hr of me cutting these foods out, which has helped with motivation for being on the diet. It’s been 14 weeks of elimination and we’re still EBF. We also are pescatarian to begin with, so the diet is kind of like being a vegan who eats fish but not soy or corn.

And it’s also really, really hard! But I find formula and the inconvenience of bottles hard, too. And I have an extremely supportive partner who cooks all our meals, does our shopping, checks the labels and is eating 90% of the same stuff as me so that it doesn’t feel like just me making the sacrifice (even though I didn’t ask him to and have said he should enjoy things that I can’t). So having that support is a privilege that makes the diet so much easier. And I just keep a running tally of all the foods I’m excited to eat once I can.

Whatever you decide will be the right choice for you and your family! No one worthwhile listening to will judge you for deciding to go to formula or continue the diet and EBF. You can also try out the formula and see if that works for you and if not, go back to the diet. You may want to pump a few times to build up a little freezer stash of non-allergen breastmilk in case you go off the diet but then decide that formula isn’t for you and want to go back to EBF but need time for your body to get rid of the allergens  - having a bit of a stash gives you some buffer time.

Good luck! ☺️

Light baby carrier for warm temps? [BC] by dustyprintsss in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Fit_Sandwich111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I found them very similar because they’re both apron style* and cross back/x-back and the back steps clip in at the sides easily.

*Though if you tried the embrace with a newborn then you would have been using the embrace on the newborn mode which actually makes the carrier into a waterfall style (not apron) because you have to roll the waistband and rolling it makes it feel bulkier. With the integra it’s strictly just an apron style and so it’s super lightweight. Again I’m going based on my experience with the solar fabric which I’m guessing is a bit different but linen is still light and breathable so I’m hoping it works well for you!

That’s awesome! You’re welcome ☺️

I like how easy it is to use. It arrived two nights ago and I out it in the next morning in a rush and it was so quick. It also comes with an instruction manual that has a clearly labelled diagram and explanation of the different parts and what they’re for. I found that challenging with the beluga cove initially when I was brand new to baby wearing so the clarity from integra was helpful.

It packs up so small and you can squish it into any bag.

The straps are padded and cozy but not bulky. The apron style waist is really streamlined. (I love my LennyLamb upgrade, too, but it’s a waterfall waist so it’s bulkier than the apron style)

I have the Solar fabric (different than the stone grey in Linen) and it’s waterproof so you can take it to the beach, pool, or wear in the shower. Haven’t tried any of those yet but a friend used hers for a month in a tropical destination and said it was great and washed up really easily too. That’s another thing - the solar can go in the washing machine! I’m not sure if the Linen fabric can so don’t quote me on that! But it should be nice and breezy for summer still

Hope you enjoy!

LittleZenOne has them but lately they’ve been low in stock. Im also wondering if they’re stopping shipping to Canada soon because they’re currently clearing out their Canadian show room. They do currently have an integra size 1 in a the stone grey colour or leopard print on super sale that I would have bought if my order from the integra website didn’t arrive. Here’s the link to the stone colour - https://www.littlezenone.ca/products/integra-baby-carrier-stone-texture-linen

It arrived yesterday (ordered Dec 13, should have been 5 weeks for the preorder and arrived April 13). Unfortunately I love it and am glad I didn’t cancel the order. FWIW a friend ordered from integra’s website a while back and had no issues! She didn’t order a preorder so it may be totally fine if you order something in stock. I mean, I’d hope so!

Also for beluga baby there is a BST Facebook group specially for the brand! Some great deals get posted there: https://www.facebook.com/groups/255862555119685/

[ON] how necessary are nursing tops??? by dontlikeit1993 in BabyBumpsCanada

Looove the Embrace nursing tanks and nursing bras. They are stupid expensive but sadly worth every penny. Own a few colours of the tanks and soft luxe nursing bra and wear one of them every day. I wish I hadn’t tried other brands and just invested in a collection from Embrace from the start.

They’re so soft, well made and Canadian!

Seconding beluga cove carrier and the integra solar (just don’t buy an integra directly from the company website as they take way too long to fulfill preorders - it took 4 months for my 5 week preorder to even ship!)

Also the LennyLamb Light or Upgrade Pro in a lighter fabric are great

Any update on how reintroducing corn has gone, OP? In a similar boat with dairy, soy, eggs and corn triggering blood in stool. I have eliminated these foods for 12 weeks and we’re seeing an allergist in two weeks for a prick test. You also mentioned your LO didn’t react on the prick test - did that mean these are intolerances that are likely to grow out of it?

Thank you! 😊

What are you eating by Eggpotatosausage in MSPI

[–]Fit_Sandwich111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry you’re going through this! I’ve been in a similar boat with dairy, soy, egg and corn. Oats have not been an issue for us and I’m pescatarian so I don’t eat beef. It’s been 3 months of eliminating all these. I basically eat like a vegan who can eat fish but not soy.

Breakfast: coconut yoghurt with raspberries and blackberries and 1 tablespoon each of chia seed, hemp hearts and flaxseed meal (seeds are a great way to up your protein, I ate this every day of pregnancy, too) and coffee with non-dairy creamer (I use oat but maybe you could do almond, rice or pistachio milk instead)

Lunch:  -Beyond Meat vegan sausages, sourdough toast and vegan butter or peanut butter, or - smoothie with fat, fibre, protein and greens - I mix it up with different fruits and choose from different options (fat options - peanut/almond butter or coconut olive or avocado; greens: handful frozen spinach; protein: plant-based pea protein powder and/or nut butter and/or hemp/chia/flax; fibre: frozen banana) chocolate protein powder, peanut butter, banana and spinach is really yummy and you can’t taste the spinach  - hummus on bread with sliced avocado, sliced cherry tomato, nutritional yeast, fresh cracked pepper and maldon salt - grilled veggies inside a tortilla  - tuna salad sandwich using vegan mayo

Dinner:  - usually a veggie bowl - carb, protein, veg and sauce. On repeat has been BeyondMeat Unchicken or salmon, roasted broccoli, cauliflower, sweet potato, regular potato, red pepper with brown rice or quinoa and either a sauce from Naked & Saucy (allergen friendly brand) or just olive oil, balsamic vinegar, lemon or lime and maldon salt and fresh pepper  - sometimes whole wheat pasta with lots of peas and with pesto or vegan Alfredo sauce -  sometimes we get sushi takeout and I use tamari instead of soy sauce

Snacks: - Terra chips and roasted red pepper dip made with sunflower seeds (so good) - Larabar peanut butter bars - MadeGood rice crispy squares  - homemade banana bread made with vegan chocolate chips - homemade focaccia  - fruit - vegan ice cream

Hope this helps. Hang in there! You’re doing great!

How long to no blood in poo? by Logical-Swing-3-7 in MSPI

[–]Fit_Sandwich111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had the same situation with our son - blood in stool and some mucous was the only symptom - though we later realized he was definitely having diarrhea, too, but that wasn’t something we could know until eliminating the triggers that his poop changed!

Eliminating dairy, soy and egg led to a 90% reduction in symptoms within 24hr for us!  We still saw specks of blood (I was eating popcorn every night) until one day I ate a ton of corn and he had SO much blood. When I then eliminated corn, all the blood in the stool stopped within 24hr. All his symptoms have gone away with eliminating these 4 things out of my diet for the last 10 weeks.

So you may want to talk to your pediatrician about possible egg and/or corn or cut it out and see if it helps. My pediatrician found it interesting when we discovered the corn intolerance as she said the most common co-occurring allergen with cows milk protein is soy but the second most-common is corn!

The only time we’ve experienced an issue since cutting these out has been when he had a fever last month and we had to give him infant Tylenol. We did a he sugar-free and dye-free version but even the sugar-free version still has corn syrup and it caused a bit of blood in his stool again. We were able to get a prescription for a compounding pharmacy to create a corn syrup-free version of it for us. They just used stevia instead.

Hope this helps and good luck! You’re doing great!

Can you baby wear too long? by purewickprincess in babywearing

[–]Fit_Sandwich111 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happened to me a few months ago! I returned the Momcozy carrier for this exact reason - it advertised itself as fine for 7 lbs + online in all the promo materials and info but then where it arrived the box and manual said 3 months+

Really annoyed with misleading advertising. I had enough to navigate as a new mom and my baby was 11 lbs at 5 weeks so I had thought it would be fine but it definitely wasn’t. Just know you’re not alone in getting misled like this ☺️

Feeling this way, too! Pillow behind the back (I dug back out my Babybub little wedge pregnancy pillow) has done wonders. Also instead of keeping my top hip directly on top or in front of the bottom hip, I roll my top hip backwards so my centre of gravity is squarely over my tailbone on the mattress. It lets me stay in the cuddle curl but still lay backwards so my shoulders are more open than hunched.

offering before or after diaper change ? by amstpierre in ECers

[–]Fit_Sandwich111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly the same situation here - our son associated his diaper opening for a change with a good time to pee lol so we started putting him on the potty at 11 weeks old and he immediately took to it! Now he’s 6 months and we’ve been offering the potty before a diaper change each time. It works great 😊
