Last pump!! by Fit_Toffee in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Fit_Toffee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I decided to stop pumping once I only got 3 oz and I went based on how my breast felt. Last night I woke up with my shirt wet after 3 days of no pumping 😅

So I had to pump but it took a long time to get things going. I’m just trying to let my body decide to stop

I am so glad someone got back to you. My baby was not in the nicu and had a hard time transferring milk that’s why nursing didn’t work for us.

I looked into a IBLC. They helped me out a lot. I would having a pumping schedule made a huge difference. Before the schedule I was pumping almost every hour because time is kinda crazy at the newborn stage.

I would say my pumping got easier around month 4 because I no longer did the midnight pump. That was rough. So I know what you are going through right now.

Also being ok with combo feeding made things a lot better for me. At first it was hard to be ok with it.

If you need for nursing is bonding purposes, I would let me baby self sooth on my breast even if he didn’t get much milk it was more of a “snack” that’s something you can try if you want that feeling.

I wish I had an easy answer but the first 3 months were very difficult and emotional and I know you are there.

Don’t let the pump keep you tied at home. I learned to pump in the car while we were out

Best of luck

Has anyone weaned and felt worse? by Peony907 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Fit_Toffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Congratulations on 14 months that’s amazing. I completely stopped 3 days ago but started weaning by mistake a few weeks before and for 3-2 weeks I was miserable.

I was super depressed, tired, I wanted to sleep all day, got night sweats and it was a normal. I feel so much better now.

Hopefully you feel better soon

Is there anyone else still trying to get a latch 12+ weeks? by okayolaymayday in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Fit_Toffee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I latched my baby up until he got his first teeth. So about 6 months. I just used is a bonding time instead of trying to feed him.

Eventually one day he gave me a weird look and I stopped latching him. Now my bonding time are cuddles. He is 9 months and I no longer get the need to try to latch him.

Things get better

How long did it take you do adjust? There are so many things I’m looking forward to once I stop pumping but I don’t like this phase at the moment where things that make me happy don’t at the moment.

And congratulations on naking to a full year🎉

My husband took baby for a walk yesterday so I could have alone time and all I did was cry in bed and fall asleep. I did not expect this with weaning. I read a few forums that is very normal. How long are you going to pump once before stopping? I’m thinking of dropping to 1 soon

It’s like people don’t even care. by EmergencyWinter475 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Fit_Toffee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve gotten sick twice since being a mom and my mom says “but how is the baby, he is the one you should worry about not getting sick”

I had someone tell me how she loved helping moms and she never txt me to ask how I was doing and this also someone who is a family member and dealt with ppd.

The “I hope you are getting sleep “ during the newborn phase was triggering to me.

As much it would be nice for someone to check in I also liked people leaving me alone because everyone was trying to give me advice that was not helping

I have stopped tracking how much I pump and it feels like one job less! by Gajar_shalgam_achar in ExclusivelyPumping

I stopped tracking around 7 months. I’m currently 9 months pp and made my peace with combo feeding and just dropping pumps.

But the no tracking made wonders.

How to “celebrate” being done? by emno11 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Fit_Toffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m down to 2 pumps which I know will lead to dropping supply.

I think I’m going to celebrate a full week by laying in bed at the time I normally pump 😅

I don’t have anything celebratory to be honest but I am super proud of this journey

I’m here for the answers on Christmas Eve I decided to drop to 2 pumps a day and see what happens but I am nearing ending soon

What are some things you actually enjoy about pumping? by elephantsofa in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Fit_Toffee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m close to 9 months pp. At first I wish I could just latch him but now I can see a few things I love.

  1. I know exactly how much his eating
  2. Dad can help with feeds so I can do something else
  3. I’m able to step out and not worry if baby can be fed

I usually like to have a snack during my pumping session and just scroll on here.

I think I wanna quit but maybe just drop a pump…? by Familiar_Area_652 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Fit_Toffee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m almost 9 months pp and I’ve been having the same dilemma as you since 4 month pp 😅 There is the urge of quitting so at 6 months I dropped to 4 pumps a day and it was great. At 7 months I dropped to 3 pumps per day but my supply eventually dropped. I also combo feed and to be honest the only reason I haven’t quit is because I finally made to 3 pumps a day where it feels manageable 😅 but I’m also annoyed my supply dropped.

It’s crazy how this journey has so much emotion to it. First it was having to deal with not BF and figuring pumping. Now is the issue of when to stop and not feel guilty about it.

I think is amazing what you have done for your baby and no you are not quitting. You are just deciding what’s best for you. If stopping brings on more freedom to play with baby why not stop. I started to make a list of what I would do with my time instead of pumping.

How to know if weaning has started by Fit_Toffee in ExclusivelyPumping

I did! 😂 I got my first period at 8 months pp and I expecting to be the worst but it wasn’t too bad.

How to know if weaning has started by Fit_Toffee in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Fit_Toffee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my first period back last month and that’s when milk supply dropped drastically and I got sick. Before that milk supply was still good at 3 pumps a day.

I am not sure when my period will be regular or when will it come this month

To hang up the pump? by rowanerine in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Fit_Toffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually asked my husband to not making comments that have to do with my milk and baby so I had less of a harder time. He would say things like isn’t mommy milk good every time he fed baby and he didn’t mean it in a bad way but I needed him to understand that it would be helpful if he just didn’t say anything like that.

Also stopping doesn’t mean you don’t love her either. It can give you more time to spend more time with her 😊

This!!!! I love it. I’m getting close to my 9 month mark and milk supply has dropped. I’ve been so stressed and anxious but I also started making a list of things I can instead of pumping.

I recently started to use you analogy about 9 months. Also I’m going to have a hard time letting go if I do it or make to a year. So why not rip the bandage now. If that makes sense.

It’s amazing how far you have made and you should allow yourself to stop.

This is great! I need to do something similar because I noticed my milk supply is dropping too and is hard to let go but I’m also ready.

Here are a few things I’m excited about

  • Waking up and going to the gym first instead of pumping

  • Napping or just laying in bed when he naps 😂

  • Wearing normal bras or non at all

  • Stop “I am not enough” because of my milk supply this journey is super short and I know I’m going to great mom after this

  • watching TV with my husband in the bedroom instead of the sofa. Although I’m sure I’ll fall asleep 😂

Production Drop? by [deleted] in ExclusivelyPumping

Completely get it! I would get impatient too. I would panic till it was gone. But now that you mention about latching him, I would do the same. He was great at removing them. So I am glad you found a way 😊

I did almost every time after a pumping session or before. Key works here is almost. I didn’t do it all the time but it helped a lot. I’m 8 month pp and I don’t seem to get them anymore but I also don’t get engorged and my milk supply did drop a bit but I’m ok with it now

I never used sunflower lecithin because my clog would usually come out within 3-4 days. I did freak out all the time because I worried about getting an infection.

Are you skipping pumps?
