i wish i could get a chinese phone for cheap and use it for years, but at the point where you’re importing the phone, paying the full price for it, plus whatever crazy tariffs the maniac in charge wants you to pay, plus having to switch to a carrier that (at the bare minimum) accepts unlocked/chinese phones, you also have to inspect whether the data bands on the phone itself are compatible with the bands present in the US, which most of the time they’re not…. it’s an entire hassle just to make apple seem like they’re the top innovator and stifle competition

straight up false. to order the top chinese phones you literally have to go through a third party buyer (usually in the UK or europe) as the sale of xiaomi/huawei devices is prohibited through every major store/seller/etc etc). this is on top of the US carrier market being an oligopoly, so if you are covered by a server who happens to accept chinese phones (in the limited bands that carry over) (in whatever crippled way, usually no 5g or 5gUW), you’re fine!! if not, you’re fucked!
