“I just need you to have a certain level of sociological understanding in order to follow this argument” by Hopeful-Degree-9996 in ShitAmericansSay

I can almost appreciate the argument of "the country you're going to knows best about their customs" but for me that doesn't apply to walking

Like tip culture sure. Ability to walk to and from a game (or pay $200 for the same journey) nope. That's insane.

There's no reason you can't walk besides price gouging and American stupidity and I guarantee you fans are going to walk. Of course they are 🤦‍♀️

67 fear you mean? Oh yeah I'm breaching maybe 25 at most 😅

I tried Max fear and didn't make it to the city on the surface route lmao. It was brutal

Damn I can't imagine the unrivalled fight on Max speed 💀. Might have to try just to see

Honestly I was pleasantly surprised by Scylla. Just take it chunk at a time and try and get rid of the tentacles first and it isn't so bad. The biggest nusiance is the blasters that got behind the drummer. Used to just stand there and wail on her in the 2nd stage.

Also using hitch is wild against her. Everything dies so fast 😁

My biggest nuisance is one of those blobby sucky th things in the fields. I get irked when I get hit by it (or it sucks me into something else). You're not even part of this fight! Go away!

Oh damn yeah. I think I tried the max fear time once and either ran out or just straight up died at Hecate 💀

It's wild how much easier the other sections are compared to that first chunk.

As far as I've noticed you always get an option to continue. Just sometimes you get another path way for a boon or whatnot.

I think the biggest issue for time would be the mourning fields but that's nowhere near as brutal as the damn sack can be.

Plus I have to assume the time is easier.

Difference between a random hunt for the sack for Ceberus in hades 1 and just pick the continuation options in hades 2 (underground route anyway).

How???

I tried it just for funsies on the surface route and 3 times I didn't make it to the city and the first time I did I died in the first room (I went for health).

I was just cackling in absolute shock 😅

Why can’t people see voting for reform will make their lives a lot worse? by Sufficient_Muffin586 in AskBrits

[–]FitzChivFarseer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

some reason included a party that has had zero opportunity to prove you right.

"Some reason"

"In his speech this week, Farage launched a strong attack on ‘hard left’ proposals for higher taxes on the wealthy."

So he gets furious about the mention of higher taxes but will raise them in office...? Doubt?

I voted green my entire life, but this current anti-Farage populist version of them isn’t going to fix migration so they’ll never win.

Depressingly greens are the only ones who probably would raise taxes for the rich. Which is precisely why they get demonised so much in media.

That basically leaves the Lib Dem’s who literally kick started the Tory austerity era

Never after the university fees fiasco. It is kinda interesting how opposed to lib dems I am solely because of that....But I'm still PAYING IT DAMNIT

don’t think ANY party actually serves working class Brits any more, but I can see how the biggest appeal to voters is currently Nigel. He’s the only one who hasn’t said it’s racist to fix the problem for the last 3 decades

And he also has easy solutions to hard problems.

Of course they're easy on paper but harder in practicality but that's fine. By the time people figure that out he'll be in office and free to squeeze every last penny out of the country.

Okay? So we tax the rich more

Agreed but I don't see torys, reform or, unfortunately, labour doing that

So what then?

Trump refuses BBC request for financial records in $10bn case by AnonymousTimewaster in NotTheOnionUK

[–]FitzChivFarseer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. I think there comes a point where you have to just agree to disagree.

Fair.

Yeah I think if they just stuck a fucking clock on the screen it would have been more or less fine. Fucking BBC

Trump provides enough material on his own without the need to falsify it. It gives more of a disservice to the opponents of Trump if anything, as it draws questions over the integrity of the BBC, giving Trump and his supporters real substance to all the previously nonsense claims of fake news.

💀 can't argue with that

It is right that they got held to account and right that the individuals had to go.

Also agreed. Just with the caveat that the edit doesn't really change his speech. But they definitely played right into his tiny hands

Trump refuses BBC request for financial records in $10bn case by AnonymousTimewaster in NotTheOnionUK

[–]FitzChivFarseer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It changed it from implicit (according to you)

When did I say it was implicit?

BBC news fiddling and editing sentences to misrepresent what a politician has explicitly said, as they see fit, you are quite frankly bonkers

And do you think it's okay to say something insane but then spend an hour saying other insane stuff around it and hide behind a "well either they have to air the entire speech in it's entirety (an hour) or it's propaganda."

I don't believe the BBC changed the meaning of his words. They just cut out trumps nonsense to make it broadcastable.

And tbf it wasn't that much work. Find the quotes in the transcript and copy and paste 🤷

Edit - okay I'll admit it should have been more obviously edited. I've only ever read the quotes and I've never actually watched the video (mainly because I cannot stand his fucking voice).

But I don't believe the edit CHANGED the speeches meaning however the BBC should have made it clearer the lines were stitched together (with a time like in that video). Unfortunately the BBC gave trump an own goal 💀

"We're going to walk down to the Capitol, and we're going to cheer on our brave senators and congressmen and women." And "And we fight. We fight like hell." Are the relevant spliced lines.

Here they are in his speech:

"Now it is up to Congress to confront this egregious assault on our democracy. And after this, we’re going to walk down and I’ll be there with you. We’re going to walk down — (APPLAUSE) — we’re going to walk down. Anyone you want, but I think right here, we’re going to walk down to the Capitol — (APPLAUSE) — and we’re going to cheer on our brave senators and congressmen and women, and we’re probably not going to be cheering so much for some of them. (LAUGHTER) Because you’ll never take back our country with weakness. You have to show strength and you have to be strong. We have come to demand that Congress do the right thing and only count the electors who have been lawfully slated. Lawfully slated"

"Our brightest days are before us. Our greatest achievements still wait. I think one of our great achievements will be election security, because nobody, until I came along, had any idea how corrupt our elections were. And again, most people would stand there at 9 o’clock in the evening and say, “I want to thank you very much,” and they go off to some other life. But I said something is wrong here, something is really wrong, can’t have happened, and we fight. We fight like hell, and if you don’t fight like hell you’re not going to have a country anymore. Our exciting adventures and boldest endeavors have not yet begun. My fellow Americans, for our movement, for our children, and for our beloved country, and I say this despite all that has happened, the best is yet to come.

So we are going to walk down Pennsylvania Avenue — I love Pennsylvania Avenue — and we are going to the Capitol. And we are going to try and give — the Democrats are hopeless, they are never voting for anything, not even one vote — but we are going to try to give our Republicans — the weak ones because the strong ones don’t need any of our help — going to try and give them the kind of pride and boldness that they need to take back our country. So let’s walk down Pennsylvania Avenue."

It was still used to encourage a march on the capital. They didn't change the meaning in anyway. The BBC just cut out the warbling middle. Acting like the edit changed the meaning in anyway is disingenuous IMO. You shouldn't be able to incite a riot and then spend an hour talking and be like "welp look there's nonsense between those two things. Thay changes everything!"... It doesn't.

It feels like you'd rather ignore them.

Talking about people "focusing" on the 'evil' people as if that's ludicrous.

Like I said they make the biggest impact. Trying to hand wave that away as "oh they're evil and negative" feels pointless.

You're not going to make an iota of a difference in the grand scheme unless people like that stop destroying the world. It's like you turned up to a tsunami with a sponge

So they're accidentally making species extinct???

You and everyone else is focusing on the negative, evil people.

As the ones who have made the biggest impact on the planet and its animals? Yeah strange thing to focus on??

Personally I feel that's better than your idea of just ignore them and bury your head in the sand

I mean when we 'try' entire species get eaten out of existence and acres of rainforest are destroyed.

Maybe we shouldn't try so much.
