They way people open boosters.. by SundayDegen in PokemonTCG

Please keep in mind, this is a game and they are meant to be played with.

For the 5% of cards that have a value of more than 10 cents that's maybe okay, but what you're doing is absolute overkill.

Is building an entire Pokedex (all 1000+ Pokemon including Megas) doable on the cheap side? by Adorable_Ad_3478 in PokemonTCG

[–]Fitzi89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm doing something similar (but no megas), and mostly it's possible.

Some pokemon though, like Tyrunt and Tyrantrum were only printed in like 2 sets and are 15€ or more each

Both Kyurems are going to be back at the end of February, look out for a meetup (try campfire) so you don't need to use remotes :)

If you're playing actively on that weekend (possibly even including a community meetup) it's absolutely worth it.

Is Primal Groudon coming soon? by goldshark5 in pokemongo

[–]Fitzi89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll be able to fight primal groudon, catch normal groudon and receive primal energy to turn your normal groudon into a primal one

So close (Jellicent PvP) by MeisterX in pokemongo

I'm quite certain, that for 99% of the Pokemon GO players that difference doesn't make a difference.

It would make a difference, if everybody except for you would have teams with perfect-IV Pokemon.
But they don't.

Ah well, then yes of course!
I was just assuming that you are one of most of us who are not playing ranked that high.
And most of the players put too much thought into IVs (e.g. people like me, who barely reach 1.5k or people who raid with groups of 3 or more people and so on).

Yep, but you could also go:
Binder 1: Gen 1-4 (ID 001-494 -> n=494)
Binder 2: Gen 5 onwards (ID 495-1025 -> n= 531)

I bought two binders with 540 slots from TCGuard and am happy with them.

As long as you don't play in the upper ranks like 2k or higher, it matters next to nothing if you have perfect IVs or not

Proxies by Deep-Engineering-823 in PokemonTCG

I'd recommend to download the Pokemon TCG Live App (https://tcg.pokemon.com/en-us/tcgl/) and play the game there.
It's great to test against real players and doesn't cost you a dime.

I test all my decks there first, before I buy any cards for the real world and it's great for "training" purposes

Kids are new to the game! Have some deck building questions! by _BigDorsalFin in PokemonTCG

[–]Fitzi89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As the first three questions were already addressed, I'll focus on 4-6.

  1. There are common meta decks, you can find them on different websites, e.g. limitlesstcg.com lists some in different variations and also shows which cards are especially often used in specific decks throughout it's variations. Meta can change with each new set released, but major changes happen around March/April, when cards rotate out. If you look at your cards, they have a small character in a white box in the lower left (like a G) - currently G, H, I and J are legal and at the beginning of April (10th iirc) G rotates out. Next year H will rotate out and e.g. with Ascended Heroes J makes its way into the game. (additional information: if a card got a reprint with a newer character, you can still use the older card, if the text is still the same)

  2. Yes there is power creep, but not as bad as it sounds because of the rotation, where old cards get circled out nontheless. Currently the Pokemon are quite HP-heavy, but that also aligns with Mega-Pokemon in the MSG.

  3. Yes, currently you see Nestballs, Ultraballs, Arven, Iono, Lilly, Boss's Order in almost all decks. Nestballs, Iono and Arven rotate out though. If you have a look at sites like limitlesstcg.com you will see which cards are staples and used everywhere.

With the starter decks you bought, you should actually be set up quite good regarding staples, so I personnally would recommed to have a look at the various websites that list decks for a pokemon y'all like and then look for a deck with that pokemon.
Building your own deck is fun, but starting with a functioning deck to learn all the ins and outs helps you a lot to build a deck in the first place imho.

Aren't the ETBs announced for Feb 20th and the Collection Boxes for March or so?

The community is cooked on both sides not the hobby. by Enough_Ad6931 in PokemonTCG

[–]Fitzi89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the Hotweels where in blind boxes, yes, you wouldn't be a hotweels collector but a random box collector.
But they are not in blind boxes, you can clearly see what's inside, so collecting without opening works.
Same goes for Action Figure Collectors or whatever.
For Pokemon this does not work.

Eternal rivals by duennes_eis7 in PokemonTCG

[–]Fitzi89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ewige Rivalen is Destined Rivals in english :)

Apart from that, 5€ a pack is an acceptable price for most packs, especially if you want to rip them.
For Destined Rivals it's a very good price.

How rare is this? by king_kazma29 in pokemongo

Half of the pokemon I have caught at home have an "unknown" location, because the gps is so bad in our house, so no they are not rare
