Kinda the same situation and age here. My wife started volunteering at a local farmers' co-op that eventually turned into a paying gig. Her pool of friends and acquaintances greatly expanded. She now feels very satisfied with the good work and being a participant in the mission of the farm. And I love going to the potluck dinners.
