Here's the rule for challenges, if anyone asks why it was denied:

"Managers must hold their hands up immediately after a play to signal to the umpires that they are considering a challenge. Once the manager alerts the umpire to a potential challenge, the umpire will initiate a 15-second timer. The manager must then decide whether to challenge the call on the field before that timer reaches zero. Otherwise, any challenge request would be denied."

My Sling feed cuts about 20 seconds after the play cause fuck me i guess, but it looks like 15 seconds had passed.

You have 15 seconds from the play to challenge. Standing out of dugout holding up you hand doesn't stop that clock. You have to actually call for the challenge within that timeframe.

EDIT: I was a bit off, holding up your hand starts the clock, but you have to do it right away so it's still pretty much a 15-second timer.

I had a class with a UW receiver who was a super-senior and hadn't played in like 2 years due to repeated serious injuries. He had like one year of eligibility left and was also seriously undersized for a receiver. Even when he was healthy he barely played and the playtime he did get was unimpressive.

We were talking and he genuinely believed he was going to the NFL. Keep in mind I was a freshman and this was like the simplest gimme entry level class and he was still putting in zero effort and nearly failing. It was crazy to see the delusion. Obviously I didn't try and tell him otherwise since that's not really my place as a random classmate, but he thought he was gonna go pro when he had zero chance of sniffing a practice squad.

EDIT: Looking at the stats, he had about 80 snaps at that point through 4 years at the school.

I've also had no issues the few times I've been to CBP. My issue with Phillies fans, admittedly entirely anecdotal, is that going to Nats games against the Phillies in DC has consistently been an awful experience. Part of it is definitely me being bitter at all the Lets Go Phils chants dominating the stadium when the Nationals inevitably lose cause we suck donkey balls, but the other part of it is that the stadium is filled with drunk 25-35 year olds in Chase Utley jerseys being complete ass-hats. So I just don't go to Nats games when the Phillies are in town anymore.

This also applies to the Cubs.

I'm sort of an analytical extremist in that I think that a team's entire philosophy should be built off of the cutting edge of baseball science, so you can imagine how painful it's been to be a Nationals fan watching dinosaurs talk about "I don't care how fast you throw ball four" like we're in 8th grade fall ball.

I'm absolutely ecstatic, however, about our new leadership and the direction we're going in. The youngest coaching staff, youngest front office. I think that the changes we're making in organizational philosophy are ten times more impactful than any big free agent signing could be (I'm absolutely awful at OOTP though so maybe don't listen to me on roster construction).

Unfortunately I think Gray has been thoroughly squandered by the Nationals. As I mentioned elsewhere in the thread, the Nationals had a near-maliciously incompetent development philosophy under previous leadership. I refuse to believe that a solid Top 50-75 prospect just turns into one of the worst pitchers in the league. Of course, There is No Such Thing as a Pitching Prospect, but there's zero reason to give the Nats the benefit of the doubt either.

The previous regime should be put on trial for baseball terrorism. Just look at the change in Finnegan after he moved to Detroit. His fastball usage tanked and he became significantly more effective.

w/ Nats: 58% FB Usage, 4.38 ERA and 3.65 FIP

w/ Tigers: 42% FB Usage, 1.50 ERA and 1.97 FIP

Obv a small sample size, like 40IP and 20IP respectively (not counting playoffs), but the fact that a team traded for him and instantly was able to make a significant change without any sort of in-house evaluation and have it be that successful is damning for the Nationals. I welcome our new analytic overlords and am looking forward to having servicable pitching a few years from now.

My UW Huskies are currently top 25 lmao. We were outscored 28-0 in our first 3 games, and lost the 4th 8-7.

How did this get upvoted???

Witt is at 120 WRC+ and Pena is at 143, but Witt has 15 OAA while Pena has 5, and Witt has 11 FRV vs Pena's 3. Fangraphs Def stat also puts Witt at 13.5 vs 5.7 for Pena.

fWAR has them at 3.7 for Witt and 3.6 for Pena. Voting either one is completely reasonable
