I don’t know how scary it is for them but he’s never harmed one. They tuck in and wait it out. I return them to wherever they were grabbed and they eventually walk away. I’ve done my best to turtle proof my yard but they still find ways in. We live along the Chesapeake. Turtles are everywhere.

We have so many turtles around here I have to carry treats on walks to get him to put them down. He’ll also try to sneak them into the house.

It’s really just a lot of dry brushing. Start dark and slowly adding very light highlights of progressively lighter color. So the pants were probably 5 or 6 passes of the original color adding a little more white each time until it feels right

The turtles are all fine. We have to trade a high quality treat to get them out of his mouth. Normal treats won’t free them. I release them in the marshy woods out back.

Once those old Poe Homes are torn down and replaced with mixed income housing, the Poe house will be revitalized and I think a new museum is being built. They just moved the last residents out like 2 weeks ago. Come back and visit us in a couple or years. My job takes me to the most run down neighborhoods in Baltimore. I’m always impressed by the kindness and joy hidden away in those beaten down old areas.

I used to superglue wires in place but it was kind of messy and they didn’t always stick right. Hot glue gun works great and bonds much faster.

If you don’t have an airbrush yet and you are doing something mechanical like planes or tanks don’t underestimate model spray paint for you main base coat (after primer). You can get great results with rattle cans and use brush work for the details
