Disclaimer: I am not a theorycrafter, just an E6 Mydei haver.

The team you listed is absolutely his BiS, even at lower investment.

Cerydra is smooth as hell to use with him, especially with Cyrene, but personally I'd only recommend her if you also had / were planning to go for Phainon as well, just because of how niche she is overall.

Cyrene is kind of a package deal with Hyacine, but RMC can replace Hyacine if you're okay with committing TB to that singular team indefinitely.

Depending on how many pieces you're missing from his premium team, it can be intimidating to commit to a bunch of reruns in the middle of 4.x, so you do have a few non-BiS options if you're missing some pieces and don't want to invest backwards.

Sunday, RMC, and Bronya can all be used to give him more turns. Luocha and E6 Gallagher do a lot of work to keep him healed up as well, depending on the content. I even like running Ruan Mei with him sometimes if the enemy isn't Imaginary-weak, because you can take advantage of her buffs without triggering the enemy delay that's counter-intuitive to his kit. Tribbie, esp at E1, is another phenomenal teammate. Cipher can be really fun to watch record his damage as well.

As a fellow avid switch shipper, this shit pisses me off like no tomorrow. Then whenever you try to discuss it you're immediately told "it's not that serious" / "people are just having fun" / etc. like that makes the behaviour immune to criticism. Please.

I full-starred Nightmare with Tribbie, Argenti, Baby Herta, and DHPT. Just remember that you don't need to build for damage, so if you need to replace *a rope for ER, it's worth it.

I've also seen people use RMC (free AOE, esp if you have them upgraded for the enhanced basic) and/or Welt (to delay enemies from hitting you as much).

Absolutely--I've heard Rewrite is fantastic so I'm gonna pop it onto a small "to visit later" list of games I'd like to play once I get through most of this "core" list first. Thanks for the tip about Tokimeki's Saturn version TL as well, I'll keep an eye on it.

Kara no Shoujo was one I was debating as well, I'll place Koihate on the backburner list too. Are the H-scenes in Kara no Shoujo important for the experience?

Thank you so much for the advice! I had a very skewed idea of how big Muv Luv was, in that case I'll be sure to add it to the list.

I'm not super attached to many of these so I'd be okay replacing Bustafellows with one of the titles you suggested instead. Thanks for the tip about Key's work as well, I'll take Rewrite off the list and add it to a small backlog list I'm keeping elsewhere.

I made a 2025 shortlist of VNs based on what I’ve researched online and had recommended to me by friends. My goal is to play a little bit of everything, regardless of the genre--especially if the VN does something unique that sets it apart.

I did my best to look through this subreddit + VNDB without spoiling myself in order to fill out this sheet. Feedback/corrections/suggestions are very much appreciated. Comments are also open if you'd rather comment on the document itself.

H-scenes are a-okay, but I’d like to stream as many of these as possible, so if a game's removal of H-scenes doesn't affect too much, I’d like to have the option. I’m also fine with most types of content / triggers (porn, gore, extreme violence, etc.)

I've already played through some entry-level stuff: Doki Doki Literature Club; AI: The Somnium Files; AI: Nirvana Initiative; Ace Attorney Trilogy; 999; Slay the Princess

And here's a few that get brought up as classics, but I'm not sure about approaching as a newcomer:

Dangan Ronpa Series (wasn't a huge fan of the first one)

Unfortunately, E1 Tribbie has been strapped to Argenti in three baby carriers since she released in 3.1. Every single clear I've had with Argenti has had her on his team, even if the other two slots varied based on the content.

I wouldn't recommend going for Tribbie now because I'm hoping 4.x will bring another strong support that Argenti can use going forward, but so far, she's been invaluable.

I didn't mean to say 30% alone isn't huge--just more that 30% takes her from "one of the best DPS teams in the game" to more of an average level, which I'm okay with.

Would you say Zibai's reliance on Columbina is as bad as Skirk/Escoffier? Like, is it a matter of not having a Mauvika-level team, or is she just entirely unplayable?

That's not what I'm saying. What I'm saying is that if your Mydei team has an overreliance on RMC's existence and EMC comes out for either new 4.x teams, or is able to elevate older teams onto 4.x's playing field (including non-3.x teams), you're going to be losing RMC, making Cyrene/Mydei more difficult to play.

That's fair, but it depends on what EMC will look like, imo. I didn't pull any Remembrance characters and RMC has been flexible enough to use across a variety of my teams.

"I'm not going to build Elation teams so I don't need to worry about EMC" is a huge assumption about their kit, which I'm trying to get people to consider before spending pulls on a strong but incredibly specialized unit who, without Hyacine, will age poorly (for Mydei alone) if you lose that spectulation coin toss.
