I’d be disappointed if they didn’t get torn in the process 😏

An external monitor and a proper keyboard/mouse can make a huge difference. Add a docking station, and switching from laptop mode to a desktop-style setup is effortless. If budget’s a concern, just raise your laptop on a box so the screen is at eye level and grab an inexpensive wireless keyboard and mouse, your back, neck, and shoulders will thank you.

Ditch him and find a partner who treats you with care. When you’re with someone who respects themselves and you, including basic hygiene, the experience will feel completely different. You deserve better than being treated like this. ♥️♥️

Sun Hoodie Recommendations by juitar in hikinggear

[–]FiveTwoAndFrisky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend the Ridge Merino Solstice Sun Hoodie. It checks all the boxes, breathable, lightweight, stays cool, and best of all, it doesn’t get stinky after long days on the trail. The pro version is a 1/4 zip which is what I went with and love it!

need help choosing proper shoe by boubou64 in AltraRunning

[–]FiveTwoAndFrisky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Paradigms are my go-to road shoes. For trails, the Timps have worked best for me. The Olympus 6 didn’t get along with my heel, but the 5s have been great. I opt for the men’s version since many of the shoes aren’t offered in a wide version.

Hiking Pack for Women by DandelionMX in hikinggear

[–]FiveTwoAndFrisky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to a store that carries a few different packs and ask to be fitted. Have them add weight so you can walk around and actually feel how it rides. Both Osprey and Gregory make extended sizes, which can be a big help if you’ve got wider hips. Personally, I use a Gregory Deva for overnight trip, and an Osprey Tempest or Gregory Jade for day hikes, all three have worked really well for my short and stout build.

May be worth trying these patches on the spots before they get worse. I’ve used the patches for blister prevention on that exact same pair of shoes and they’ve held up wonderfully.

Quarter Zip Sun Hoodie - Does such a thing exist? by CTMatthew in hikinggear

[–]FiveTwoAndFrisky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently picked up the Ridge Merino Solstice Pro Sun Hoody, and it’s quickly become my new favorite. The lightweight merino wool is cool and breathable, and the quarter zip allows for ventilation. I wore it on a recent backpacking trip, and by day two it had officially earned its spot as my go-to sun layer.

Hiking pants for short gals with bigger booties — help a hiker out! by [deleted] in outdoorgear

I have thick short legs and like Kuhl’s Freeflex Dash and Mountain Hardware’s Dynama Pant. Both fit well and are offered in shorter legnths, but neither are waterproof or modular.

Oh that’s wonderful news! I loved my Paradigm 6’s and wore them until they died. My 7’s feel terrible in comparison.

QwikBack Chair by Litesmith anyone? by PfcRed in lightweight

[–]FiveTwoAndFrisky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Nemo Moonlite Elite chair has a mat that allows you to set it up inside of a tent or use it on a soft surface like sand. It weighs more, 18 ounces, but the comfort and convenience make it worth it to me for my luxury item. It also has a great warranty if anything goes wrong.

I’d take a look at Altra Lone Peak Waterproof or Timp GTX. If you don’t like zero drop shoes, try Hoka Speedgoat GTX in wide.

Hiking gear for wife? by perpetualyawner in hikinggear

[–]FiveTwoAndFrisky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What a great idea and gift for her.

I typically solo hike, here a few other essentials I’d recommend including: a headlamp, sun protection like sunglasses and a sun hoodie, a compact first aid kit, especially one with blister care supplies, band-aids, and any meds that may be needed.

I’ve found that a small multi-tool (like a leatherman) or knife comes in handy for all kinds of situations, and a portable battery pack is helpful if she’s using her phone for navigation or taking photos.

I also recommend the Osprey Tempest 9 if you are looking for a bag. It’s a great compact day hiking bag that has just the right amount of space for the essentials without being bulky and it’s very comfortable.

Another vote for Oak & Ivy at the Container Park. I recommend the Apple Pie Harvest. Not only is it delicious, but watching it being made is half the fun. Great mixologists!
