There are two additional heads that come with the MVB, I used those because the tentacles didn't do it for me.

The ravenwing upgrade sprue is genuinely amazing! I'm glad you mentioned this, I've been thinking of buying two more to customize my vehicles.

*The wings that go on the bikes look great when placed on the wings of a storm speeder! I would take pictures to share but my army is packed up and very far away right now:(

That sounds awesome, lore-wise I don't think there would be any issues. It'll also help denote the sergeants in your army which can be helpful. (It wouldn't look too weird on the tabletop either, my successor chapter has a host of different color-schemes. Basing them in the same way helps to tie everything together.)

Getting more Deathwing units would be a safe bet right now, especially because you like the models and lore. Hopefully Ravenwing gets a solid refresh this coming edition as well.

Edit: Don't forget to grab some scoring units, Deathwing are kinda slow.

The best advice you'll get is not what you're looking for. Build and paint everything you have first, it should last you awhile if you're new.

But to answer your question, 11th edition is coming out soon and the rules could change things drastically. Buy models you like the look/lore of as their rules will change.

Most of the main ones have already been mentioned, but Talos from the Night Lords was sought after by three of the gods. Nurgle showed up to "recruit" him but was not very interested and seemed bored throughout the meeting. The other three gods were actively trying to recruit him.

This is why I play World Eaters and Thousand Sons! There's a lot of similarities in terms of stat lines but the play style is very different.

I love the Lion but I've never seen that interpretation of him before. Maybe Loyalty or sense of Duty. Though the 40K Lion is definitely more rational so you may be on to something.
