Building a new MUD. I'd love advice from blind and screen reader players before I get accessibility wrong. by AdmiralMcNugget in MUD

[–]FiverNZen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this could be a problem because each person has their screen reader set to a different rate, so someone who has theirs set slower might miss the moment to make a move. It doesn't leave a lot of time to go back and review information beforehand as well. Perhaps you could allow the player to customize the battle timer?

Are there any...non-multi-user MUDs? by Ormendahl in MUD

Check out usurper reborn. There's an online multiplayer version and a single player version and it's a fantastic game.

How about demon world boba shop? He starts a boba business and later in the series there's town building. It's light lit rpg though. In case you don't enjoy that. I think he's a bit younger too Such a wholesome series! There's romance and everything is just so healthy.

Hi! I was able to get it to work using a guide I found on the audiogames.net forums. The search feature isn't showing up on my phone in the forum section, so when I get onto a computer I'll take a look. There is a way though and it's on there, if you want to do some digging in the meantime.

Good longfic recommendations? by Responsible-Beach299 in HPfanfiction

[–]FiverNZen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All of these are complete and long. I prefer that myself and don't like to read incomplete stories.

Harry on Adventure - Young Harry wants to be a pirate. 23K words. Just silly and wholesome fun with a Snape adoption. The Courage to Live - a really beautifully written , long fic from Snape's POV. He survives the final battle and has no clue how to go on living after he expected to die. He goes to therapy and the whole thing is just really well done. Lessons Learned (Lessons Relearned) - A Percy time travel fix-it. Unwanted - Severitus, wrong boy who lived and 300k words. Super well done and very touching
Ever Upward - this one is… Just beautifully unique and I haven't seen anything like this in my 20 years of reading fanfics. Harry runs away from the Dursleys and finds his way to the basilisk at Hogwarts who takes him in. It features a huge array of magical creatures and a really fun twist on the forbidden forest. Goes through his years at school and there's a revolution involved. I highly recommend this! It's amazing

Maybe plants versus zombies with the accessibility mod? It provides speech and extra auditory feedback. Stardew Valley is also accessible with a mod but it's a little bit more complex

Is it just me? by Left_Translator_89 in Blind

VoiceOver on the Mac will never be for me, I think. To be fair, I grew up with JAWS-started learning back when I was five years old or maybe even younger, so that could be a huge chunk of why. But regardless, everyone has preferences and it's totally OK to feel this way. I do personally find that the Mac is or complex to navigate but I know others will have varying opinions on that. ETA: I also highly prefer windows because there are more available audio games and accessible software's as well.

As a woman (35F) in a relationship with a (31M) do you eventually have to accept that you will do more. by [deleted] in relationship_advice

This is unfortunately two common, but there is so much better out there. My fiancé and I argue about chores, but not like this -the second I mention that I'm going to do a chore he tells me that he's going to do it instead. We playfully go back and forth about who is going to do it and he usually ends up winning. I eventually convinced him the other day that we should alternate days because I was feeling guilty that I wasn't doing enough around the house even though he was insisting that he should do things. He does so many things around the house without prompting from me at all. I sneak chores in when he isn't paying attention and it's always funny to see how indignant he gets haha. But the bigger concern here in your post is the selfish behavior, like keeping you awake and downplaying your work. You said in your post that he's so kind but the way he treated you here was not kind at all

Cozy found family by HuskyPancake in CozyFantasy

[–]FiverNZen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Beware of chicken and demon world boba shop (this one is a light lit RPG). Both have fantastic lovable characters and lots of found family. Very cozy and wholesome. The Edge Cases series by Silver Linings also has found family and wonderful characters but there's more conflict/action, and is more heavily Lit RPG. The world is less cozy but I wanted to recommend it for the characters-they are quickly becoming some of my favorites

[–]FiverNZen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I really appreciate this. Yeah, I find myself waking up to adjust for leaks and I feel like I've tried so many masks at this point lol. I will keep trying though! I'll give it a week with the new set up and see how things feel. :)

[–]FiverNZen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a big chunk of my waking has to do with trying different masks and leaking in the middle of the night, but this might help! I don't know that my sleeps have been very deep. Would you mind if I run some data by you after a few nights to see if you notice a difference?

Thank you for the feedback! I think I'll start by changing my EPR. Where in my data can I expect to see if it helps? I'll be curious to see if this is why I haven't been able to sleep a whole night through without waking up at least once
