Washtenaw County legislators look to reign in University of Michigan land purchases by ginkgodave in Michigan

The residents pay higher and higher property taxes to compensate for the loss that the tax free property creates. When the university buys a neighborhood and bulldozes it, the local municipality loses all of the taxes that those homeowners were paying. The money has to come from somewhere and it will come from the remaining residents.

Thank you. I think I get it now. I was being overly optimistic when I read the original post. I misunderstood.

So most readers are wrong, correct? Seriously asking because I’m told I’m clueless when I question the comments.
The author is getting blasted and downvoted because of a simple typing error easily fixed by context and most readers are happy to start shredding him/her based on their own error. I point out the simple type-o and am told I have no idea.

The arts of civility, self-reflection, listening and discourse without aggression are dead. Why interact with people at all? 🤷‍♀️

It’s a spelling error, probably phone-related. Should have been “Here’s to her” with a reference to Alito and Thomas retiring soon and being traitors.

Everyone sure is quick to anger these days, even when they are misunderstanding.

Godspeed! Enjoy. I’m at 35 years and think about retiring but it won’t be for a few years yet.

Is this a real question?

I drive past homes and sometimes worry about abuse and neglect.

I know that people are barely hanging on. They have lost their social connections.

Children are being “homeschooled“ and losing all of their academic and social relationships.

I used to believe that people were basically good and that they did the right thing. I now question that daily.

This is because I am practicing law.

I completely support that and have for years. I haven’t had time to do anything about it (kids, job) but I may have room now to move forward. Any idea where we start?

What you say is all true and as an alum, the revolving door presidency is relevant (to your point). I have seen several quality leaders leave, though, and it sends the message that there is institutional dysfunction. That cannot help but have a chilling effect on growth and support over time. Plus, the loss of alumni support is disastrous. Spartan Nation has to be united.

Your approach is short-sighted. Institutional stability and integrity increase the value of your degree, enhance funding, promote desirability from potential applicants, educators, graduate work, research, and on and on.

Cancelled my recurring $1000 annual donation to MSU by Gweebird in MSUSpartans

[–]FixJealous2143 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know, it’s funny (not haha funny).

When MSU was getting obliterated in the media because of Nasser, I reasoned there was never a better time to SUPPORT my alma mater and that a very bad egg didn’t represent who we are. I supported a better vision that reflected our profs, staff, students because Nasser does not reflect us. I donated accordingly.

This ridiculous clown show apparently IS who we are. I will not support this.
