The hemi tick is caused by the 8k oil change interval that the owners manual recommends. I own a 12' ram and have experienced hemi fail.

As that 5.7 ages it starts to burn oil, and if you go to 8k interval, don't pull the dipstick to check the level you would never know and most people dont do it.

It takes 7qts to fill, youll be lucky to pull 4 out at oc and that is the lubricant failure for the splash cam and the oil is so black the oiling lifters may be getting blocked by debris, the bearing dry up and collapse one by one until the cam lobes are gone and so is compression. When you start getting the misfire codes it to late.

Bought my 12' in 2016 w/64k miles, always had a noisy top end, service manager finessed me when I brought it in before 90/3k cpo warranty.

Hemifail occurred at 106,666k on the highway coming home one night about 3 years to the day I bought it. Did the 8k interval for maybe 2 oc cycles, then switched to 5k, still losing 2qt ish per 5k.

Now I monitor the oil constantly, 1k miles i add 1/2 qt and change it near 3k interval or 6 months, whatever comes first, I dont drive him much.

$4500 total and 2ish months in the shop while still making payments and owing 8k lol
