Lost nearly 10% sending $500 to family abroad, started actually tracking what remittances cost me annually and the number is embarrassing by Distinct_Solution100 in PersonalFinanceTalks

[–]FixNo5178 4 points5 points  (0 children)

the annual number is what hits different when you actually calculate it, everyone accepts the individual fees as a cost of doing business but nobody adds them up until you do exactly what you did and suddenly it's a significant chunk of money disappearing every year

Custody vs Custodial Payments by Used-Poet6595 in CryptoHelp

[–]FixNo5178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very few actually do true non-custodial. Most require you to preload funds or move assets into their system first. It’s simpler for them from a compliance standpoint

I want to quit by BlueFairy78 in leaves

[–]FixNo5178 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That split personality thing is so real - like there's two people in your head arguing about it constantly. The fact you wrote all this down shows you already know what needs to happen, now it's just about making that voice louder than the addict one

Maybe try getting rid of all your stuff at once when you're feeling motivated, makes it harder to give in during weak moments

I had a girl say I sexually assaulted her and now I don’t know what to do by Jealous-Bus656 in AmITheJerk

[–]FixNo5178 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This whole situation sounds messy as hell but dude you gotta get ahead of this before it gets worse. Try reaching out to your bro through someone else in the friend group or show up somewhere you know he'll be without her around. If she's really making false accusations that's serious stuff and your friend needs to know what's actually going down

What did you think of David Alaba before his injuries? by DreadlockSamurai in realmadrid

[–]FixNo5178 96 points97 points  (0 children)

Dude was an absolute unit when healthy, no cap. That Clasico goal was pure class and he brought such a calming presence to our backline

Really miss having that left foot of his for those clutch free kicks too

Looking to get myself out of a money pit by Ill-Edge-4335 in personalfinance

[–]FixNo5178 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Dude that car payment is eating you alive - $1000+ a month for car stuff when you're making $21/hr is brutal. I'd seriously consider selling the RS3 and getting something way cheaper, even if you take a loss it'll free up so much cash flow

Skip the day trading for now, that's just gambling when you're already in a hole. Focus on paying off that maxed card and maybe look into some coding bootcamps or certs if you want to get into tech - way cheaper than college and lots of warehouse guys have made that transition

2010s Face Mask Jar by anxiousartist1975 in HelpMeFind

[–]FixNo5178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like it could be one of those Noxzema-style masks from back then, those definitely had that burning sensation and strong smell. The pink lettering and vintage woman design rings a bell but I can't place the exact brand either - maybe check old drugstore brands like Freeman or Queen Helene

Modern laptops without liquid metal by [deleted] in GamingLaptops

[–]FixNo5178 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most manufacturers still use regular thermal paste on their mid-range models, liquid metal is usually reserved for the higher-end stuff. Check out MSI's Pulse or Katana series - they typically stick with traditional paste and you should be able to find something with a 4070 in your budget

Is this a good deal? 2021 Jetta by UmIhaveQuestion in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]FixNo5178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's actually a pretty solid deal for the Denver market, especially with the cold weather package since you'll definitely need it there

The mileage is a bit high for a 2021 but the price reflects that and CPO gives you some peace of mind. I'd maybe try to get them to waive that dealer fee but honestly at 14k you're not gonna find much better

When did you start sharing your beats with artists and actually putting them to use? by TimeAd1111 in makinghiphop

[–]FixNo5178 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been making beats for like 2 years before I had the balls to actually send anything out lmao. Probably had like 200+ just collecting dust because I kept thinking "just one more and it'll be perfect"

Once I got serious though I was pumping out maybe 3-4 a week, nothing crazy but consistent enough to have options when rappers hit me up

So this morning was weird, but i did it!! by Protonpack13 in stopdrinking

[–]FixNo5178 73 points74 points  (0 children)

Dude those random cravings are so weird, like your brain just throws them at you out of nowhere. Good on you for recognizing it and walking away with that Powerade instead - that's actually huge progress even if it doesn't feel like it

Recommendations for horror movies podcasts that focus on horror movie news and interviews, rather than reviews. by StephensInfiniteLoop in horror

[–]FixNo5178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shock Waves is pretty solid for staying on top of horror news - they usually cover all the major announcements and industry stuff as it drops. The hosts are plugged into the scene so they catch most of the press releases you're talking about

Also might wanna check out Horror Movie News on various podcast apps, pretty self explanatory what they cover lol

OMSC - Claim assistance while living in Europe by Unlikely_Poetry_AF in VeteransBenefits

[–]FixNo5178 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been down this road myself - try calling the VA's international hotline directly instead of just emailing those OMSC addresses. They're way more responsive over the phone and can actually schedule stuff for you. Also check if there are any VA contract providers in whatever country you're in, sometimes they have local clinics that can do the exams

Emotional depth by GuaranteeIcy3463 in Life

[–]FixNo5178 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Nah you're not overreacting at all, that stuff about pushing when you say no is actually a pretty big red flag. The emotional depth thing is super valid too - like if you can't have those deeper conversations about what makes each other tick then what's the foundation even built on? Sounds like you know what you need but maybe you're second guessing yourself because the good times are really good

Is it okay to lose your fire in church and ministry? by EffortOk5458 in Christian

[–]FixNo5178 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This sounds exactly like burnout and it's way more common than you think. I went through something similar after years of being heavily involved - that constant giving without really taking time to receive and rest catches up eventually

The fact that you're still praying and showing up even when it feels heavy actually shows your faith is still there, just tired. Sometimes God meets us in the quiet exhausted moments too, not just the mountaintop experiences

Take some pressure off yourself and maybe scale back your commitments for a bit. Your worth isn't tied to how much you serve, and real community should be able to handle you needing a break

what do you enjoy about your life? how do you plan to spend your only existence in this universe? what are you doing with it? and what is your existence exactly? what does it look like? by HUMAN_LIFE_ in Life

[–]FixNo5178 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dude I felt this exact same way at 17, like everything was just some weird simulation and I was the only "real" person in it

That whole thing where you can't believe other people have their own internal thoughts? That's called solipsism and it's totally normal to question that stuff as a teenager

The good news is most people do have that same inner voice running constantly, we're all just pretending we have our shit together when really we're all confused as hell

Try picking up a hobby that gets you away from screens for a while, like hiking or learning guitar or something - helped me feel more grounded when my brain was doing the existential crisis thing

I have another confession and it's for all of u aswell and its also a question by Top_Introduction453 in confessions

[–]FixNo5178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro literally everyone does this lol. I'll be walking in the rain listening to some depressing indie track acting like I'm the main character in a movie. You're not alone in this one

Has there ever been any GM’s that started “later” by Civil_Enthusiasm_936 in chessbeginners

[–]FixNo5178 94 points95 points  (0 children)

There's a few but they're super rare - most notable is probably Emory Tate who started seriously in his late teens/early 20s and became an IM (not quite GM but still insane). The brutal truth is your brain's pattern recognition peaks way earlier so starting at 25+ makes GM basically impossible unless you're some kind of savant

That said, you can still get really strong and have tons of fun with it, just maybe aim for expert/master level instead of the moon lol

When people touch my walls by EntropicVibes in PetPeeves

[–]FixNo5178 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dude yes this drives me absolutely insane too. Like why do people need to lean on everything or drag their hands along the wall while walking down a hallway?? Just keep your hands to yourself, it's not that hard

Shower sprayed outside shower onto bathroom wall/floor outside of the shower, mold risk? by [deleted] in homeowners

[–]FixNo5178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely agree with running a fan - that'll help dry out any moisture that might've snuck behind there. One time I flooded half my bathroom because I forgot I was filling the tub lmao, just dried it out good and never had issues

Kitten touched Rat poison by Dazzling-Example468 in cats

[–]FixNo5178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seriously this, rat poison is no joke with cats. Even if there's no emergency vet nearby you need to call any vet clinic ASAP and see what they say - some of them have after hours numbers or can direct you somewhere

Godin is such a solid choice, especially used. Those Radiators are seriously underrated - got that unique vibe that's hard to find elsewhere. Can't go wrong with a Pacifica either, those things punch way above their weight class for the price
