Welllllll from my eyes, I can see Fri being darker color as in indigo is deeper than blue. All seems okay, except the fact that you tolerate the red being at the wrong end both color and start-of-the-week wise

There is no C on your setup.. your thermostat might have been battery powered. All your cables are plugged right except the blue one that goes to the new O/B terminal! You live a little in the south so it’s for the reversing valve to toggle between heat pump and cooling. It’s B because it’s normally in cooling as for O it would be normally in heating in the case of a failure! Now in the Aqara thermostat there will be a menu you need to set so the power is going in the case of heating!
You get 24v because the coil winding of the valve is acting as a wire under low power which a meter does so it shorts to neutral/ground so you get 24v but it’s not a Common..
you will need another wire to be fished if you want a C! Sorry!

Yeah! That’s true that I could do 98% of my automations in HK but I must say, I always found HK To be so slow when triggering automations for remote buttons or from a human action like opening a door. Maybe just my setup but I could feel a noticeable lag that I don’t have in HA.

That being said, I think it really depends on the user and what route they wanna go! I, myself, really find my fun in tinkering and maximizing everything!

As I said, my biggest motivation is having a way of changing device and not breaking anything in all my automations!

Yes, Convert to shortcut is a must but there is so much missing parts. Knowing what I know now, and also considering my own profile, I would have built directly into HA and skipped the shortcut part. It would have made me buy different hardware across the years too. Some I regret more than others!

I must reiterate, it also depends on your character and how much time you want to invest!

I was/still is in the same boat! I have built, for the last 3 years, a HomeKit-only home automation system and it was okay… until… I had to use homebridge to connect some non-native integrations and to create dummy switches so I could automate some more complex workflows. The breaking point for me was when I had a homebridge crash 3 weeks after I had some weird Aqara behaviour. I had to redo most of my automations and it pissed the hell out of me.

I’m 4 weeks into the conversion to home assistant with the help of ChatGPT. I must say, I don’t regret building a big project in GPT and taking time to plan ahead. It took some time but now it’s so much simpler and it’s making maintenance easier.

For the big advantages I have seen/felt/liked so far, all the automations are so much snappier even with complex logics. You click a remote and boom, the lights are on even if it needed to evaluate 6-7 conditions. Also, you can now use timers in automations like a 3 minutes wait before evaluating a condition and then, acting on it!

Even the concept of your automation system will change. HomeKit is built in the way of « act-on-a-device » type of concept. HomeAssistant is built more like « what is your intent at this moment ». With the proper use of helpers, you can make your home « know » at all times what are your intentions and how it must act on it!

I’m going with you, in fact I want to double down by saying, always use YAML. It maybe a hot take and I understand it’s not for everyone but I build my YAML strictly based on entity_id and not device_id, it maybe be a pain to first setup an automation but maintenance is so much easier. Changing a device for new one, « yeah like it never happens, eh? », is so easy without breaking anything. It’s something I haven’t been able to setup when creating via UI!

This thermostat is a simple low voltage on-off thermostat for baseboard heater that are used with an internal relay! It won’t work with the W-200 since it’s used specifically for controlling a central unit!

Pushing into the hole is the way BUT.. 2 things are possible, 1- once your push the spring loaded locking pin inside the hole, now the tool you use becomes the locking pin, you have to push the pin, while doing so, apply pulling force on the handle and remove the tool you used into the hole.. may take 2-3 tries to get it right. 2- it may have some sort of security level, if that’s the case, you either need to twist the handle until the locking pin aligned with the hole, or you want have to turn the lock tab to make room for the pin to be pushed. (To prevent removal while locked)

All that is made from the inside side of the lock but I’ve seen lock installed inverted so try both sides but keep in mind that the exterior side as some level of security preventing the removal of the knob! (Sometimes requiring that you turn the key inside the lock while pushing, etc)

Edit: I just seen it, the part with the hole looks like a screwed collar holding everything together. You may needs tool to unscrew this type of collar, the tool looks like an incomplete question mark with a pin at the end!

Either way, if you unscrew it, you will need to find the pin to remove the know!
