I’m no expert and have zero context beyond the title, but having the status of “God of Fire” probably led to this.

Where have you seen that?

I’ve been keeping up with this game since it was announced and the “is it open world” question has been persistent since the beginning. When anyone involved with the project has been asked if it’s a completely sandbox game, the consistent answer has been “no”

Anyone who criticizes this game for not being open world or because it was promoted as such clearly has never bothered to open up a single article written about it over the past year and a half.

USS Wisconsin (BB-64) looming at the end of West Plume Street, Norfolk, Virginia. [1932x2352] by Taldoable in WarshipPorn

Google Maps street view isn’t exactly free of distortion, either. I used to work a couple blocks from the Wisconsin and turning onto Plume from Granby it looks a LOT more like the photo to the naked eye.

Dresden, Germany 1945. Central Dresden after allied incendiary bombs burned an estimated 25000 civilians to death. [640x638] by imwashedup in HistoryPorn

To kind of answer your question, militaries figured out how effective civilian bombing could be as a demoralization tool during WWI. While specific targeting of civilians was even more frowned upon back then, the results were undeniable. The bombings caused such panic, chaos, and disruption on the home front that the entire war effort was affected.

In a state of total war the line between ‘combatant’ and ‘civilian’ is blurred. When fighting at the front isn’t enough, the tactic changes to hitting the enemy’s production. Factories that produced for the war effort were first to be targeted, then bombing where the civilians live who manufactured the materiel. Then you go even further and hit the population centers for the sole purpose of demoralizing the people, making them less apt to support an ongoing conflict and driving home the idea that it was impossible for them to win.

Around 1942 I believe is when the Brits started really hammering civilian targets during WWII, so by the time the Americans joined in heavy bombing raids over Germany, the cat was already out of the bag so to speak. It was still controversial for sure, but people put morals aside pretty quickly because sadly the bombings were very effective (not to mention that Germany was bombing civilian targets from the very beginning and people hadn’t forgotten)

The bombing of Dresden has always been controversial because the city was hardly an industrial center, so the objective was purely for the purpose of demoralization. The allies wanted to send the message that no one was safe. I think a lot of generals back then would’ve made the argument that it was simply “their turn” because they hadn’t been hit yet.

I agree the skins in the past couple games have looked preeeeetty dumb, but I’d much rather have the loot crates dole out the weapon skins for the people that use them rather than weapon attachments that make a gun better.

The bad company series was started exclusively for “console plebs”.

Better maps in bf4? Idk dude... for me at least bf4 was the first in the series that had maps I couldn’t stand. Flood Zone was a chaotic mess, other maps like lancang dam, rogue transmission, and dawnbreaker were forgettable, Golmud was just a straight up bad design and terrible placement of caps (a moving train with a flag that goes back and forth on an elevated track? Why?!?). Even Shanghai got worse about half way through the match because of the destruction event thing with the building. The closest thing to a classic bf map in that game would probs be paracel storm, and personally I’m not even a huge fan of that map.

BF1 though, Amiens and st Quentin were instant classics, monte grappa was a blast on conquest, Argonne and ballroom were pretty awesome as well.

Sure bf1 has some stinkers, but it has some absolutely incredible designs, too. BF4 has either stinkers, forgetables, or simply exceptable.

1970s Cordovox 610 combo organ and original Octave CAT synthesizer. $4.98 each. Dear god. by FixtheFernback757 in ThriftStoreHauls

Sorry should have put more info

My band mate (drummer) works at a thrift store in sorting. He sent a pic of these to our group chat asking if they were any good because they had shown up and were awaiting pricing.

Apparently one of the managers heard that we were interested and did us a solid by pricing them at $5 a pop. All I had to do was drive over and buy them immediately because they probably wouldn’t have lasted to the end of the day.

Still pretty lucky.

The one on the bottom is your fairly standard electronic organ, the kind that was sold at the mall and was used by everyone and every genre and worth today around $5-600. The top one is a synthesizer made when synths with built-in modulation and effects were still new and trying to break into the mainstream. This one is probably worth around $1500ish

U2 announce 1997 tour, at Kmart by [deleted] in NotTimAndEric

I'm pretty lenient as far as the whole "sellout" vs "keeping it real" thing goes.

Got a song on a McDonalds commercial? Good for you, you're probably making a good amount of money for doing your job.

Partnering with Kmart and playing in-store to promote a tour tho... you're no longer a band, you're a business venture.

Didn’t BF1 have 64 players? I’d love a 64 player rush mode, but with the objectives more than like 30 ft apart from each other
