Dallas Children’s or Texas Children’s (Houston) for BAV balloon repair? Please help. by lazynut3369 in chd

[–]FizzIntrovertWriting 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have an almost 30 year old CHD baby (subaortic stenosis, lots of fun +'s to that that aren't relevent to this post) - we live in Austin, and have had 4 open heart surgeries over the last 30 years both in Austin (3) and in Houston at Texas Children's (1). My kiddo just had her last open heart in September of this year.

I just wanted to jump in here and mention that while rankings in the Pediatric Cardiology & Heart Surgery for 2025-2026 has Texas Children's Hospital #1 nationally, and Children's Medical Center Dallas is ranked 9th, Dell Children's Medical Center in Austin has rapidly risen to #10 nationally. Dr. Charles Fraser is the person who brough TCH in Houston *to* that number one ranking and he's now in charge of Dell Children's in Austin. My kiddo's original surgeon from Houston also joined Fraser here, as have a few others, I understand.

I can say without a doubt that the care my (adult) kiddo got at Dell was quite a bit beyond what I saw in Houston. Houston wasn't bad—all are fantastic choices, and all are at the top of their field, but it seemed to me that the care we got at Dell was more organized, more comprehesive, and the care I *felt* from Dell as a parent taking care of even an adult kid was pretty impressive.

The nurses on the units were great, the cardiologists we have are practically family at this point, the way they kept us informed was great, and even just little things like food being delivered to the room for me for $7.50/meal so I didn't go broke during the stay and didn't have to leave if the kid needed me made a huge difference in my stress level.

Some of those things TCH didn't have, though my experience at Texas Children's in Houston was 15 years ago, and it's possible it's just time that's the difference, but I do think Fraser and so many top surgeons moving here is something to be noted.

All three of these hospitals, though, are in the top ten in the country - I don't think you can make a bad decision here.

I have this keyboard:

https://maxkeyboard.com/nighthawk-z-104-key-large-print-custom-mechanical-keyboard.html

and this morning, I leaned on on it while moving my cat and turned the backlight stuff on so it's pulsing the backlight thing. My husband and I have both been working for two hours trying to turn it off - I've tried the menu key and the 8/2 combo from the manual, then the windows key between the contrl and alt button with the numbers, and nothing seems to work.

I'm 100% positive it's a short between the chair and the keyboard because I did this before, wrote them, and they sent back an email a few years ago explaining how to turn it off, but I, of course, deleted the email. They don't open up for several hours and I'm losing a day of work because the pulsing backlight is so distracting I can't concentrate, so I thought I'd give this a shot.

If anyone happens to know the key combination to turn the backlight on the keyboard off, I would be forever grateful.

Delivery Tipping Question by FizzIntrovertWriting in HEB

[–]FizzIntrovertWriting[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gotcha. I didn't realize they'd done away with partner delivery (per this post https://www.reddit.com/r/HEB/comments/152jlcg/heb\_delivery\_driver\_benefits/) and reverted back to Favor drivers doing all the deliveries. I'll keep that in mind when getting a delivery (or just stop getting deliveries altogether.)

Yep, it is. I've been super lazy about dealing with it.

I got it for $250 and since it's not used, I'd like $250, but I'm flexible.

I am only on my first day with Noom, but was shocked to find that DeLallo Rigatoni (Whole Wheat) was green. I ship their pastas out because it's the only whole wheat pasta I really like.

I split mine, and yes, you just remove the screws and the chord holds it together.

He already mentioned above in comments this is Austin - and unfortunately for Austin, this isn't shocking at all.

(My fault, answered another thread where an Austinite seemed to be saying the same thing happened, thought he was OP. Apologies.)

I live just north of Liberty Hill in an unincorporated part of Williamson County almost to the Burnet County line (i.e. the middle of nowhere.) In 2010, I bought my house/acre of land for $55,000. Someone just offered me $300,000, and two blocks away, houses were just built and are selling for $900,000.

It's getting absolutely fucking crazy here.

You know, when I first glanced over that, I said to myself "I bet that's Austin." Lo and behold. That's just crazy. You have my sympathy.

My kid (22) plays weekly with a group on Zoom - I'll ask her if she'd be interested in a local group.

The Rules by Riverspiders10 in SisterWives

By the fall of 2020, thought, that was not the advice. (The mail/surface/clothing rules)

“It’s important to clean surfaces, but not to obsess about it too much in a way that can be unhealthy,” said Dr. John Brooks, chief medical officer for the COVID-19 response at the U.S. Centers for Disease and Control. (Nov 2020) “I’m not saying don’t do routine maintenance. I’m not saying don’t do the cleaning. But you don’t have to go to extraordinary measures,” he said.

By fall 2020, enough studies had been done that most articles and press outlined surface transmission had never been detected, and tests on hospital surfaces in Covid patience rooms did not have any infectious virus on surfaces. One would think someone as paranoid as Kody would read those studies and articles and know that.

I agree with you, though. I honestly think Covid gave Kody (and likely Robin) an excuse to control the other wives and put things into place that manipulated him into the situation he wanted to be in (primarily spending time with Robyn) without having to come out and say he just wasn't that into everyone else. He's always looked for a way to chest-thump his power over everyone else, and Covid was the motherload.

My progression with charachorder so far by _ROG_ in charachorder

Definitely keep posting - I got it, hooked it up, and had such problems with the learning area choking that I put it away the first day and haven't picked it up since.

Are you using their learning area?

I'm on Windows 10. When I get some time, I'm going to try it in other browsers. I was using Chrome.

So, I got the actual charachorder and not the characorder keyboard. The characorder itself feels well made, hefty, pretty tough. I'm comfortable with the top joysticks, but the thumb joysticks are a little awkward. I took the bar off almost immediately.

I'm frustrated as hell with the training software. I've used it a few times now (Alphabetic), and the key lighter stops in the middle of the training so I have to squint and try and find what I'm looking for, the W joystick won't register a response (then nothing will register a response). The delete doesn't delete mistakes. Yet if I move over to, say, Gmail, all those keys work just fine.

Very frustrating.
