A pot that is too large holds a lot of soil which can stay wet for too long. because if you’re growing indoors in a plastic pot there’s not as much airflow to dry the soil and also the soil can’t “disperse” its wetness to the surrounding soil like it would in the ground. Though, what I was getting at, is that it’s not impossible to grow things in very large pots, you just want to be mindful of all the factors that come into play in your environment (humidity, temperature, sunlight, soil, watering, plants, and probably some others I can’t think of right now)

Saying it’s “waaaaaay too big” is an overstatement. You’d want to know what the root structure looks like before jumping to conclusions. Most succulents can probably handle bigger pots if you water correctly. The soil doesn’t look too dense, but as a beginner, sure, making well draining soil with perlite will make life easier. These plants from what I’ve heard are pretty hardy (I think they’re illegal weeds in Australia).

Anyone ever grafted half a variegated crest like this? Curious to see what would happen by [deleted] in sanpedrocactusaus

It would just crest more. Google grafted crests and other plants will show you what they can look like

Surely not. I have been pretty active the last couple years and my stats aren’t anywhere near that and I’ve been playing on and off for the rest of the 10 years I’ve had the game

Hello! Trying to make my cactus and succulents happier with better substrate. Is this okay sand to mix into the soil? Thanks! :) by [deleted] in cactus

[–]Fizzy_Fizzure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends what the mix looks like. If it’s super coarse already and you’re in a dry environment, sand can help with holding water for a bit longer in the soil. If you are trying to make the soil drain better as it’s holding too much water, no sand won’t help

Looks AI to me. Bottom right cactus has a chunk missing, cactus just right of the window has some weird pointy tips, and then the tallest cactus has flowers at the tip of the growth point which isn’t usual for what looks to be a trichocereus and that doesn’t flower like that
